Default buying a used cart motor condition question

I'm kicking the tires on a used 36v cart the batteries are shot. I think after charge and resting 12hrs there holding 35.8 v and while its drivable little hills are a huge challenge/no go runs smooth on a flat surface no signs of major neglect no odd humming or burning smells.
I've never had issues with my current cart not even a battery swap yet...so I have no trouble shooting experience.

so I have 2 questions

1 Is there any tips I can get or things to look for to determine if the motor is in good shape before committing to this thing?

2 Its a 2002 txt nothing busted /cracked the tires and seats in good shape and top is fine all stock what's a fair price for such a beast?

well for starters......the batteries are totally shot.....so for starters you will be investing in a new set. as 36v are considered DEAD. a good set of batteries charged and rested for 12 hours will read 38.2v. a new set will set you back between 600 to 800 depending on the brand and AH

now....what drive system is the cart......if you don't know, check out the image below and let us know what you got.

Sorry forgot to mention it is the series motor.
yes the batteries are way gone. I can get a set from a friend off his solar system that are only a year old and well maintained for 350.00

I just wasn't sure about warning signs , hard to spot troubles when I've never ran into any (Knock on wood) in the past on my current cart.

Assuming everything is original what's due to burn out at this point?

well TXT Series drives are pretty hardy....and will stand a lot of abuse.....its the type if cart a lot of golf courses use....so personally, I wouldn't be worried to much about the motor. Seeing as its 12 yr's old, I would be looking at the High Current Cables rear close, might even think about replacing them. If not, I would take off every connection, one at a time and clean them, put on some dielectric lube, put them back one and tighten them back up.....but don't over tighten them, the battery connections are only to be torqued to like 10 ft-lbs. and when you are taking off and replacing the cables on the motor, ensure you use two wrenches, one as a back-up on the bottom nut, to make sure you don't twist the stud.
