What's your thoughts on the plum quick bandit upgrade?

I have a spm400 already and fixing to install the 14.76 ratio rearend I got from sonoco and was thinking this the best time for a motor upgrade. wanted everyone's thoughts on pq's bandit motor. looking for torque more than speed that's the reason for the gears.

Are u a series cart? If so u wont but about 1 to 2 mph. In my experience.

yes series cart, 36v on 23" tires.

I had my spm 48400 on the stock motor, then moved to the bandit. I didnt really notice more torque. Max speed I get is 21 or 22mph with 22s and 17 psi in tires. With bandit.

The 23" tire reduces torque by 22% where rubber meets road and the 14.76 gears increases torque by 19%, for a net loss of 7%. (Percentages don't add up due to change in gear ratio)

PQ claims a 20% increase in torque (and speed), so you'll end up with about a 13% net gain over what you had with stock motor and gears with a SPM400 controller.

A D&D 170-004-0001 motor has a 40% increase in torque for a 33% net gain.

Also, up the pack voltage to 48V will give up an addition 33% increase in torque.

Johnnieb is the best. I can only tell you my Bandit upgrade from 4 years ago gave me the speed and torque boost PQ promised. My cart has 205/50-10 tires and standard 12.44:1 rear end. The Bandit is still running strong and PQ always responds completely and quickly to any of my questions regarding my Bandit and possible future motor upgrades. Bandit is a very cost effective upgrade, but if money is no object and torque is your goal, call PQ to find out all the details on their other motor options. I'm considering a 'Raptor' in the distant future.

A note for other readers, consider using a 500a control for more torque.
Amps = torque.

In NASCAR terms, feeding a high torque motor with a low ampacity controller is akin to restrictor plate plate racing.

If a stock series controller (Curtis 1206) will pass 275A, a 400A controller will allow the same motor to generate about 45% more torque, while a 500A controller will allow it to generate about 82% more torque.

Technically, those increases are input power to the motor rather than output power, so the true torque increase is the input power times the motor's efficiency at that RPM, which varies from around 50% to a little over 80% over the motor's RPM spectrum at the applied voltage.

A 500A controller is a bit much for most stock golf cart motors, but is needed to get the maximum performance from many aftermarket motors.
(I consider a motor that PQ performs their special breed of magic on, an aftermarket motor.)

Some motors can handle, and need, more than 500A, so to obtain maximum performance, the controller ampacity ought to equal or exceed the max safe current draw of the motor.

I didnt see a difference but my controller was crapping out so that may be why IDK... I got 18 mph but being 48v I had plenty of torque for my use. Was hoping to pick up a little top end speed. I wanted 20 ish
