Default 24v dc power contactor on ezgo

just purchased a 95 ezgo 36v with series motor. on the drivers side under the seat there is a white Rodgers 24v d.c contactor mounted to the cart. in sharpie beside of it it says 12 volt power and its ran off two of the golf cart batteries. Im assuming this is an attempt at a 12v power source. Isnt that a no-no in the golf cart world? I was planning on a 12v marine to go there until I found the contactor. should I remove it or will it work without hurting the batteries in the long run? thanks

I personally don't like to draw power of my battery pack unevenly. I would use an auxiliary battery for 12 volt needs and not draw off the main pack. Consistently discharging one or two batteries in your pack more than the others will shorten their life. Batteries aint cheep!

Thats the way to go in my opinion. No reason to shorten the life of a good pack of batteries.

You might consider a power reducer, much lighter than battery and you don't need a second charger.

I have thought long and hard about it. I love the idea of running only 1 charger I love the idea of not buying an extra battery. im just afraid ill get liquored up with the tunes on and loose track of time and have dead batteries

you sure about that? seems to me like it it would take 3 times longer that a car battery, not to mention the charge I would use driving that day and the power I would need for my light bar to get home that night.
