Default Confirming which cart to get

So looking to buy a cart for the first time. I have the option for a 2012 RXV or 2012 Precedent (same price around $3500). I am leaning towards the RXV since the golf club I belong to has EZGO TXT models. I am assuming that if I drop my cart off at the club they would be able to plug my cart in at the cart barn with the same chargers as the TXT (need to confirm that). I will basically be using the cart for transportation, to and from the clubhouse. Anything that I need to be concerned about?

RXV charger probably not compatible with TXT.
Most TXT's are 36v All RXV's are 48v.
Look at charger on TXT's probably a "D" shape.
RXV's have a triangular shaped plug.

most clubs wont put private carts in barn, "liability issues"

Rxv charger is small and light (Relatively speaking). You can easily carry it in bag well.

RXV's go over 20miles on a charge. So in most cases that is enough.

Test drive both carts, RXV's can be programmed to run 19mph with stock tires.
RXV's are superior to most carts on hills.

Good luck !!!!

The TXT's we have at our club are 48V. I did check that. I will go to the club later and check out what the connectors look like (I will take a picture too).
The club has mentioned that they would be fine charging the cart for me. I will not actually use my cart to play golf in just get to the course. It seems kind of silly, but I will drive my cart to the club give it to them, and then hop in one of their carts to play.

Will charge for you -- GREAT.
Wont let your cart on course - S.O.P. Assuming you get the RXV, And assuming you have it programmed to 19.5Mph, you will be twice as fast as the other carts.
Carts going that fast can be a hazard since most golfers are plastered before they get to the 6th green
Some aftermarket tires tear up the grass(big no no )
Also the course makes money on cart rentals

All in all not bad...
Worst case is you throw charger in bag well.

Do you have hills in your area?
Do you plan to "upgrade" cart?.... Tires, rear seat ect. ???

It does not bother me that they wont let me use my cart on the course. They are entitled to their revenue. I really just want the cart for transportation.

So you must be psychic about the 6th hole. I live off the 5th green and have a keg in my back yard so that is about the time we are getting happy.

I live in South Florida so no hills. My wife would like to put a rear seat on the cart, and I like the way the seat folds out to carry stuff. I need headlights so we can drive home at night. But other than that no real mods. I would like to keep it nice and simple. I don't even need to go that fast but I will probably change my mind after I get the cart. I am going to drive it 1.25 miles to club house and then back again. Pretty much on cart paths the whole time. So no fancy tires, unless there is something that gives me a smoother ride.

The primary reason I wanted to go with the RXV was compatibility with our cart barn. Maybe I should look for a used 48 volt TXT.

So if I am just going to have to carry a charger with me, and knowing what I just told you what would be the best kind of cart to get. I would like something late model and in good shape.

Assuming their chargers are compatible with your cart, voltage, charging profile, ect. It would not be hard to change the plug on your charger and receptacle on your cart to match theirs, or you could make an adapter to go in between your cart and their charger plug, or you could even add another receptacle to match theirs on your cart and have two.

You should be fine with any golf cart for a 2.5 mile round trip ride. No need to charge once you get to the course assuming your batteries are in decent shape to begin with.

I had an RXV and loved it. The cart doesn't roll back on a hill. Super responsive in terms of acceleration.

2.5 mile round trip???
RXV will hardly notice that...
Mount charger on wall and just plug cart in when it is at home. (our rule at shop...... if its not moving-- its plugged in.)
Over 20 mile range here in VERY hilly area.

RXV with no mods or lifts and (a little bit) oversize tires will travel 20-24mph (depending on exact tire size)

For street use, i recommend the low profile tires.
They ride a little rougher, but the stiffer sidewalls help with control and stability at speed.
No need to change to aftermarket tires/wheels to start with, RXV's run 19.5mph on stock tires/wheels.

Maybe you could "demo" a RXV for a weekend?
If you test drive one, give review/comparisons

Flip Rear seat--- our most common upgrade... 99% of customers go with that option.
(add 4 milk crates and a bungie cord for a nice utility bed)

Light kit-- second most common upgrade.. easy do it yourself... (we install cheep!)

Maybe long top for rear seat passengers??

Good luck !!!!
Keep us posted !!!!
