Default key switch wiring

I have a two prong key factory on my 95 ezgo. I ordered a 4 prong switch on ebay. I have two wires I think green and blue going to factory switch, which one is hot and which one should I run soc meter to? I cant get a reading off any of them. Also how should I wire the 4 prong when it comes in?

On the stock switch (+) power comes to the key switch on the blue wire and out on the green. Either wire can supply 1/2 of the meter power. Connect with the green for on/off operation with the key. The (-) half of the meter power will come from the battery pack main (-) for a 2 wire meter.

The 4 terminal switch is actually 2 separate switches in one housing. One is used for 12v lighting

so I don't even need the 4 prong key switch for the soc meter? also what do you mean by 1/2 of the power? I only get power to switch when in gear as well. is that normal?

1. No. The second set of contacts is typically used for switching 12V power to accessories on and off.

2. You need B+ and B- connected to your soc meter to get it to read the pack voltage. You can get the B+ half at the keyswitch, the B- half has to come from a direct connection to the battery pack.

3. That is normal for a series cart since the solenoid activation voltage goes through a microswitch on the F/R assembly before it gets to the keyswitch.

What kind of soc meter do you have?

Thank you for the answers, so they 4 prong is basically a 2 prong with a built in toggle switch for 12 volt? I was under the impression in relayed 36v over to the other two. I purchased a small digital volt meter

No harm - no foul. You can use your old switch or your new switch. There is no connection between the the 2 pairs of switch leads. print this out and study it to see where how the 2 switches work. Notice B1 and L are the lighting circuit. NOW - you could make the second switch any voltage you want by changing the input to B1...the B1 switch is on the 3rd position of the 4 terminal keyswitch.

so the third position actuates the lighting circuit b1 and L? I would jump 36v over to b1 for volt meter?

The three position switch is two independent switches. You have an off position, where both switches are open (off), the "second" position turns on one switch, while the other switch is off. The third position turns on both switches.

I use my second switch (third position) to power all accessories, besides ones I chose to power whenever I'm driving, such as the speedo/volt meter.

Print out the instruction I attached above.
You have 2 switches in 1 key.
Each switch function requires an input. It does not matter what voltage you use at what switch because they are independent of one another.

Your voltmeter could be run on the B1 switch or as an addon to the B switch.
