Default EZGO vs EZGO RXV / Worth the money?

Hey guys,

I am in the market for an EZGO and I am a total newb when it comes to this. What are the big difference in an older EZGO and a EZGO RXV? Is it worth the money to pay for an RXV?

I am looking to buy one to tool around in my neighborhood.

Thank you very much for your time and I look forward to being apart of the community.

1) What area of country? Level ground, hills, how far would typical drive be?

2) What carts are you comparing/wanting info on?

3) what is price difference?

RXV General Info......Others have better info on other carts...
I stick to my specialty

RXV's are newer tech. The drive system is a "fly by wire" throttle and brake system.

RXV's have a large aftermarket accessory selection.
Easy to add bling and cool accessories.

LEAVE RXV ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ALONE.....( More info avail on request..RXV ELECTRONICS ARE NOT USER FRIENDLY)

Motor is an AC motor as opposed to the DC drive system previously used in electric golf carts.

RXV's can be programmed to High medium or low acceleration.
They can be programmed to run from @13 to 19Mph.

With a reasonable tire/wheel size increase, RXV's run22 to 24 mph.
This is about as fast as I recommend.

The RXV is a good solid performer with no drive modifications.
Great as a neighborhood runabout. Capable of handling hills with ease.
RXV's easily travel 20 miles on a charge.

Early RXV's(2008/2009) had problems with parking brakes, a weak solenoid and battery
issues with Trojan 12v batts.

Most RXV's have had the old style parking brake replaced with new no lever brake--- brake problem solved.

same with solenoid.... replace with new style an forget it.

We change RXV's over to CROWN batteries..... Battery problem solved.

Even the 2008/2009 RXV's are great carts.

Please test drive cart (Weekend demo?) might even be worth renting different carts for a few days to try them out.

If in a "golf cart community" talk to the neighbors.
Most will be glad to give you rides in their toys.

Find good cart shop.... good service is verry important

Good luck ...
others will chime in soon ,,,,

CGtech,Sir Nuke, JohnnieB.... Yrtle...Kernal...CTD.. so many great sources !!!!

IMO: YES! I've had a TXT for 15 years and although I really like it and it has been almost completely reliable, it is an antique compared to the RXV.

I've logged a couple of hours in a RXV now and it is smoother in every way, more stable, even loaded down with 4 adults and much faster if controller is set correctly. Does not slow down when climbing hills (within reason). It has an AC motor which is probably the future. Yamaha just came out with their AC powered cart.

In my area the RXV is becoming very popular. I don't think the local dealer even stocks TXTs anymore. I see used ones there but not new ones.

Kernal....

How do folks in your area Feel about the RXV's...

Are they happy with the performance and range ?

Is local dealer servicing them without problems?

Redneck thank you very much for your detailed answer. It really was a good read. I know a lot more about EZGO. Where I live there are some hills. I just need something to tool around in the hood. I play on using it for real estate. Putting up signs, being scene etc etc.

I am looking for a nice EZGO RXV. Here is one.

The aftermarket on these toys must really suck. I'm hoping to get a good deal on Craigslist. I can't post the link to the one I want, due to not being member for 10 days.

I loved my EZGO RXV and would definitely recommend it over the traditional TXT if the price isn't a crazy amount more.

Rxv is def. more advanced system than txt. Drives much nicer than txt on hilly areas. Both (new txt & rxv) can be tricky to work on without programmer tool. Only thing new txt has going that rxv does not is huge storage in dash (can install stereo without losing much storage), and lower price.

The real USC in Columbia.

I live in Charlotte. I imagine shipping on these things isn't expensive.

I just purchased an rxv last month. I've built several txt and pds carts, mostly for hunting applications, over the last few years. The RXV is by far superior to everyone of my builds including my 500amp 2speed EMP setup. At this point I don't know that I will ever go back to a txt dc set up. This cart has been awesome as a hunting and neighborhood cruiser.
