Series style carts by far are going to be cheaper to upgrade motor/controller parts. There are more motors and controllers available. If I have to choose between the 2 I would buy a series style cart.

PDS carts have less available but the technology is starting to catch up. You can buy a....what some call a chip....its actually a plug in connector with wires going to different pins on the controller. You have a choice of "chips". Each one will do different things. PDS carts should have a longer run time due to the regen motor.

Thats my $0.02. Im sure others will have more comments.

So on the coast, where there are no hills either cart will do just fine?

Yes...Either one will do just fine. If you plan on lifting the cart I would get a series just because its cheaper to upgrade. If your not planning on lifting it then the PDS will do fine. You could even get the "Freedom Chip" for the PDS and gain some speed but loose some torque.

roady89,
I think you meant PDS instead of DCS.

I swear I'm always gettin those 2 mixed up.. Thanks for catching that andy. But yes...I meant PDS. Andy has a cool add-on for his cart. You can switch between the different modes with the flip of a switch.

Cool Re: PDS vs. Series

hi guys
bought a 1997 ezgo
cart's not here- i gave it as a gift
immediatly took a dump of some kind.
there is no serial number plate, its missing.
stickers say both 100 model AND PDS
reverse/forward switch is by drivers right knee -
is this a series cart or pds cart?
i read somewhere that pds carts have the switch on the dash?
cart worked perfect for 2 days, loaded it and unloaded it for the second time
and a tie rod came off (its lifted), its new owner put the tierod back on, but now the cart is dead. hes's checked the tow-maint/and run switch, and fwd/rev switch for correct positions, thats about it.
any ideas?

thanks
