Re: EZGO rear end
Thanks Rev, I only see one plug on the pan, if that is the fill hole doesn't look like it would be much oil in the reservoir.

Re: EZGO rear end
The thread is about a gear swap but will help you out with the seals.

Re: EZGO rear end
Pete, many rear-ends don't even have a "drain" hole, most pans don't. only a fill hole. and your right.....on a standard rear-end, there isn't much in it, actually 10 oz. to be exact, per the manual.

Re: EZGO rear end
Some of us use a full synthetic. I'm using Valvoline full synthetic 75w-90. And yes just around 10 ounces or so.

Re: EZGO rear end
yep.....the manual calls for 30 wt. MOTOR OIL.
now this has been beat to death on the forum.....but the spec's for motor oil and gear oil are different, and even determined different.... so with that said......that actual viscosity of a 30 wt. motor oil is roughly the same as the 75 - 90 wt. gear oil that most of us are using in our carts. |

Re: EZGO rear end
Not 10oz for all electric danas. And to add to the confusion, many different oils have been specified over the years (i prefer the heavier gear oils instead of the lighter oils sometimes specified, the rxv alone has had 3 different oils specified for the same axle, 30w, gear oil, and "tractor fluid"). The gears and bearings designs have not really changed, so they all will lubricate sufficiently, but the thicker oils reduce noise. Looks like that input shaft seal has been leaking for a while, i suggest a yamaha kit with a oil slinger to keep oil away from that bearing (where oil is not needed anyway, its a sealed bearing), works on all dana electric axles i have ever tried it on. It includes a new bearing, new o-ring, and a slinger, its part number is 99999-JU200. Skip the chinese bearings, and get the real deal, it works. Dont forget to grease those poor rusty splines...
