Motor swap

I'm trying to swap a motor out of a 05 TXT and i have removed the 3 bolts and beat the snot out of the motor with a rubber hammer and motor has barely moved.

Any help would be great!!!

get some PB blaster around the housing where it seperates and take your time cause some of them are real pains in the arse if you get it rocking side to side at all try and get a few small screwdrivers in there one on each side and try prying back and forth with like baby steps.........good luck take your time like i said some are real MF,ers............................................ ..

It took me a whole can of PB Blaster and about 4 hours of wiggling and tapping. The can eventually came off and the armiture stayed, but at least you can get more leverage on the armature. If you not trying to preserve the motor, have someone tap that sucker with a mini sledge while your rotating and wiggling the motor. PIA, but it will come off. How old is the cart?

BRS, did the shell run into the brake backing plate when it came off? Just wondering about clearance issues on a tear down like that.

The cart is a 05' and the motor is great shape. What I'm doing is swapping an 05 TXT motor and controller into an 04 TXT. The 05' runs circles around my 04 but I have a lot more work in the 04.


After the swap I do have a buyer for the 05 and does not care about speed. So I'm going get the goods before he picks up the cart. If this is too much of a pain than o well.

2 of us spent about 2 hours last night smacking the crap out of the motor with a rubber mallet and trying to pry it off. But I'll try the PB and see how it works.

I had to pull my motor after it was submerged in salt water for several hours and then sat for about 30 days, it took a 10 lb sledge to break it loose.

Just like shadowman said, I used WD40 once I had the smallest crack and kept dripping it into there.

When using the sledge, I used a wooden board (2X2 about 2 ft long) to keep the metal off the metal. I rotated the differential spling by moving the cart an inch or so between beatings. Eventually it came loose.

Get a bigger hammer.
