Default TXT reverse controll

There's a new bug on my biggie. It's a 2003 TXT w/PDS and sometimes when I flip the switch to reverse the buzzer sounds and the amp/charge gage shows a major discharge like it's shorting or putting a huge drain on the system, and it won't back up. Forward works just fine but reverse will be dead , and this doesn't happen all the time but seems to happen more often now.

Would this be a controller issue and is there a way to test the system and it's components?

Also on another issue, I can't seem to find the fill plug on the rear end. I can see the drain plug but where the heck is the fill hole?

Thanx

I have heard of PDS controllers loosing one direction or the other, but I do not have a test procedure.
As for the rear end, the plug you see is the fill hole. To drain the rear end you remove the entire cover. Replace it (with a sealer for a gasket) and fill it till the lube comes out that hole.

Well, I still have that intermitant 'no reverse' problem now coupled with periodic shutdown at speed. I can switch into reverse and I see my amp guage show full discharge and the reverse beeper is sounding but the cart will not back up unless I switch from reverse to forward to reverse again.
Also sometimes I'll be tooling along at any speed and the cart will suddenly slow to a stop and the beeper will be sounding. After I apply the brakes and come to a full stop the cart will run again and seem to be fine. Soon after I got this cart over a year ago I gave it the 'Power chip' treatment ( adding a jumper wire to the controller as per this forum) and it really made it run faster. Would that have anything to do with these problems? Could it be the controller or the switch on the dash or the 'gas pedal' switch under the floor ?
Anybody got any ideas?

Those beeps could be a diagnostic code. Is it a series of beeps then a pause followed by more beeps?

Red face Re: TXT reverse controll

Hmmmm, I'll have to pay more attention the next time it acts up. I think it's just beeps without a pause but it happens so seldom that I'm not sure if it is a code. But thanx for the thought and if it is a code then that'll narrow it down somewhat.
Cheers!

Run the cart in diagnostic mode to see if you can replicate it.

With key in 'Off' postion.
Run/Tow Maint switched to Run
Move FNR switch from N to R 5 times.
The first series of beeps 1,2,3, or 4 indicates the performance option the controller is set to.
The next series of beeps 1,2,3, or 4 followed by a pause then 1,2,3, or 4 more beeps indicates the fault code. Fault code legend is typically on the controller environmental cover.

Got it. After switching the FNR switch 5 times it sounds 4 beeps, then stops beeping. I see on the controller cover what the codes are and I guess I have to drive it in code mode and hope it does it's Baaad thing. One malady I forgot to mention is that on occasion it will have very little power and barely move. I have to switch back and forth between F & R. to get it to resume it's normal peppy speed. On the label posted on the cover it states that reduced power can be a result of a malfunctioning speed sensor and to check the connections. Where is that located? I really need a shop manual that shows where everything is located instead of the generiac owners manual.
Thanx again!
