Adding an Ignition Switch
I have a 97 TXT 36V that I have redone most all the wiring for functionality but never worried with the key switch in the dash. Now that I have a little toddler running around, I really need to have an on/off switch. Right now I'm simply putting it in neutral.
The cart had no key switch. I have purchased one for the model. However, I am not clear at all as to what gauge wire to use and where they connect. There is only two connections on the back. Thanks! Logan |

Re: Adding an Ignition Switch
Your key switch is a simple on/off switch. It is used in line to interrupt current. Originally in 97 TXT the power in was from the F&R micro switch and power out was to the pedal box micro switch.... I think 14-16g wire is plenty. You may even find the green wire spliced to the blue wire behind you key switch plate. If you do connect those 2 wires to the switch

Re: Adding an Ignition Switch
ScottyB - Thanks for the response. There aren't any wires connected to anything behind the dash. They were all removed during the remake of the cart. I have gotten everything figured out under the seat and the main power but I'm not sure where to run wires and where they connect.
If I ran new 14 - 16 gauge wires from the key switch where would those each connect? I'm confused by the schematics on the switch. Thanks |

Re: Adding an Ignition Switch
You can really interrupt the power to the controller in numerous places. Since you already know that FNR includes Neutral, use a meter to see which of the two microswitches on the FNR has power in forward and reverse. One simply provides power for 1/2 speed and the reverse beeper. The other only kills power while in Neutral. Simply wire the switch in series with that circuit.
