Default Adding an Ignition Switch

I have a 97 TXT 36V that I have redone most all the wiring for functionality but never worried with the key switch in the dash. Now that I have a little toddler running around, I really need to have an on/off switch. Right now I'm simply putting it in neutral.

The cart had no key switch. I have purchased one for the model. However, I am not clear at all as to what gauge wire to use and where they connect. There is only two connections on the back.

Thanks!
Logan

Your key switch is a simple on/off switch. It is used in line to interrupt current. Originally in 97 TXT the power in was from the F&R micro switch and power out was to the pedal box micro switch.... I think 14-16g wire is plenty. You may even find the green wire spliced to the blue wire behind you key switch plate. If you do connect those 2 wires to the switch

ScottyB - Thanks for the response. There aren't any wires connected to anything behind the dash. They were all removed during the remake of the cart. I have gotten everything figured out under the seat and the main power but I'm not sure where to run wires and where they connect.

If I ran new 14 - 16 gauge wires from the key switch where would those each connect? I'm confused by the schematics on the switch.

Thanks

You can really interrupt the power to the controller in numerous places. Since you already know that FNR includes Neutral, use a meter to see which of the two microswitches on the FNR has power in forward and reverse. One simply provides power for 1/2 speed and the reverse beeper. The other only kills power while in Neutral. Simply wire the switch in series with that circuit.
