Default 48 volt conversion charging problem

I hooked up the new powerwise cord to my lester 48 v charger and the charger fuse blew as soon as I plugged it into the golf cart receptacle and without the charger even being plugged into an outlet. I was wondering if that would be due to me not unplugging the red reed wire at the golf cart powerwise receptacle? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Converted 36v 2000 ezgo to 48 volt ( 6 volt in series

My guess is the polarity is reversed.

You are exactly right. As I started testing I opened the handle to my brand new powerwise cord and found it was shipped with the + and - hardware reversed. I tried to delete this thread but could not find a way. Thanks for your reply.

You are welcome. It could only be one of 2 things; either polarity reversal or a dead short. Ruled out a dead short because the cart would have burnt to the ground long before you ever hooked up the charger.
