Default What are these RXV wires for?

What are these factory RXV wires for? The 2 wires are purple and red.

They are in this 2008 rxv that I am refurbishing. Are they for future battery meter, such as the club car precedent have?

Those wires activate a small 48v relay to switch 12v brake lights on and off. The controller decides when to activate the brake lights (it does know brake pedal position). Looks like you also have lights? I see a harness, but no turn signal wires (and no "grey wire" jumper either).

yes I am installing a deluxe wiring kit, with turn signals, horn etc. I am going to pick up the steering wheel, adaptor, and billet today. Once I install the chrome tube, then I will attach the turn signals.

Note...
Do Not wire lights to relay wires.
Lights pull too much power and will damage controller. (Big money boo boo)

Hi tech :

So you are giving me 2 options here, one option, tie my lite feed wires to one 12 volt battery. Or option 2 is to tie my lite wire positive to the solenoid?

I am a little confused, on the solenoid hook up. On most carts, the solenoid is constantly being energized and deenergized, by the constant go pedal stomping.

Is it different on the rxv's?

Solenoid on RXV is constantly on when key is turned to F, N, or R. I've only had an RXV so never messed with regular carts. From what I understand is take everything you know about regular carts then throw it out and learn the RXV way.

The relay that hooks to those wires only function is to turn brake lights on and off, nothing to do with the main contactor that turns on the controller. As HTR said, do Not hook lights directly to those wires! A relay must be used. You will still need to find a source of 12v power (tapping into one battery, or , better idea, a dc/dc convertor).

We are talking about different issues.

1) Most aftermarket kits will have a switch for brake lights. No need to worry about RXV wire harness.
2) Best way to power lights ect is with a voltage reducer.
3) RXV power sol. is not tied to gas pedal. It is operated by computer.
4) Adding any (non factory) connection to RXV wire harness is bad idea.
5) Brake light relay connecter (under cup-hoilder) is to connect to small relays coil - not to power lights. Power must come from different source through relay CONTACTS
6) You can make brake lights wok using relay connecter- But this requires a solid electronics knowledge. Not advanced but solid. Please do not attempt if you are not sure.
