fast and slow

I have two carts I purchased at the same time and both were not running. The same day I purchased I got them running.

Both carts are ez go, one is a 1997 and one is a 2002. Both carts are 36 volts but one is considerably faster. The carts seem to accelerate about the same but the 2002 get to a certain speed and tops out. The 1997 continues to gain speed and tops out at about 25 miles per hour. The carts climb hill equally so I ruled out the gears.

What component is making this cart faster? The reason for asking is I perfer the 2002 but I also would like to rob the 97 of what part would help?

Have you checked the obvious, what motors are they running, what controller, etc. What voltage does each read under load. You need to check some things before posting such a vague thread. We'll help, but you got to rule some things out!

Thanks for the reply, your good at making someone feel stupid. If I knew the "obvious" I would not have asked. I will research more and maybe someone with better intentions will reply with some suggestions rather than a bashing. I'm an auditor, not a mechanic, this is a hobbie

I apologize for some folks here, they assume that everyone knows everything and they make smarta$$ post like the reply to your question. I've seen a number of them post stuff like that and a lot of times all you get is a vague answer which cause's you to ask more questions and then they get aggravated because they think you are questioning their knowledge. I have often wondered how many folks they have run off by their replies.

I didn't notice if you are a newbie here or not, but someone will come along and help you out. By the way, I'm fairly new at the cart stuff and not that person. Keep asking questions and If I can help, I will.

Sorry for the blast,...not my intention, I guess I just figured if you bought more than one cart, perhaps you had some knowledge on the subject. I am a novice here too, believe me, again sorry didn't mean to discourage you. Climb under the carts and see what you can tell from serail # on parts...what have you and post the results or even some pics.
Harleyman, hitman or whatever you call yourself, stop trying to drum up trouble!....I responded accordingly and actually asked for meaningful info. What did you do?....Oh yeah...nothing!

I apologize to the guy before he left and possibly never came back because of your rudeness ! I also told him someone would be by that could help and that I wasn't that person but you again showed your true colors by being a smarta$$ again, comes pretty natural to you doesn't it ?

You do realize the more members we have here means the more stuff the site sponsors can potentially sell which in return means the better the site can be ? I'm guessing the folks who help pay for this place would prefer you to encourage others to stick around, not discourage it !

I would be glad to help with more information as well.....Really do not like any one apologizing for us..... We get the same questions over and over, so you will have have to consider that in our replies. And that ..... is an explanation, not an apology ! Hobbies are good. I am a mechanically inclined person so modifying golf carts was a logical hobby for me.....some people are not mechanically inclined and still they wish to wrench on carts for fun ... How about some info? Read the tags on the motors and controllers are they the same? And then there is the whole 'speed chip' thing

BRS - This is a pefectly legit question. Is the 97 a series or DCS? Is the 2002 a series or PDS? For a 97 to outrun any newer cart, then it either has a larger motor (hp) or a set of gears in it. The 2002 - is the F/R a shift handle or a toggle style on the dash? BRS is on the money with his question.

Hitman - You are so far out of line, I can't believe you feel so comfortable as to leave such a reply. You're going to dig yourself in a deeper hole that you are already in with the "regulars" in here. Yes, some get a little "upset" at some posts, but we that support all those with answers really don't HAVE to. I, as many others, do expect that the new person do his / her own research FIRST, then after some self education, ask their questions (which is what you DIDN'T seem to do when you joined). Like it or not - golf cart sales and repairs is what I do for a living. My answers (as well as others) are free to you - BUT take time out of my day that I usually get PAID for. Your disrespect (Hitman) of this is why I will no longer assist in any more of your requests.

since i don,t get to see that many newer E-Z go,s is it possible the 2002 that tops out has the reagan feature? i know the 97 won,t have it but i do know E-Z started using it in some of their carts not sure what year but it was after 2000 i beleive so that may be something to look into........as for the rest of the junk posted in the thread well lets just say it dosn,t help anyone............................................ ...
