question about rear end

I jacked the rear of my ezgo j398 elect txt up and then hit the acellerator and both rear tires turned in forward but just one did in reverse. This is a completely stock cart and I was thinking that you only had one wheel turn in forward as well. I don't know much about carts yet but what would be the difference in this and a limited slip?

With an open diff, if both tires are spinning forward you can use your hands to stop one of them and the other will continue spinning. Try that with a limited slip, and it's probably going to hurt.

So I guess if you grabbed both of them one would still spin?

If you grab both of them, you'd better be stronger than the motor, not to mention all that gear reduction!

GR8....If you want to get rid of those mud build-up's, you have to "add" some rubber extensions to your existing fenders in the rear. Also, what I did to make the up 'n down very hilly area's of Southwestern Pa. a little more easier to traverse was to do some rear "chopping". Not only does this lose some cart weight that was really unnecessary, but it makes quick turn arounds and tight spots much easier to deal with.

BTW....be VERY careful how fast you get those wheels turning when you have your cart up on jack-stands. It is very easy to "over-spin" your motor to RPM's that it's not designed for and cause the motor to essentially "fly apart." This will lead you to purchasing a new motor....when you didn't need to do that at all.

And when you want some "REAL TRACTION" get some real tires!! These Gator Mudders will get you almost anywhere you want to go.

I never realized mud was any problem, i thought if it had mud and dirt all over it, it meant it was being used to closer to its full potential (opposite of "super fancy 4x4 mall-cruiser trucks"). Guess i been doing it wrong. I wash all the crap off mine when ever its time for "oil change and grease service" because i hate dirt in my eyes.

Dirt in the zerk grease is also bad. Eyes can be washed out (or protected with glasses) but gritty grease will never heal.
