96 ezgo txt controller
my son put my cart in reverse while driving and it is now dead. I was told it could be as simple as a fuse or as expensive as the Curtis PMC P/N 71344G03 controller.
1. I can't find any fuses. 2. How do I test the not controller before I spend all that money. 3. What about the solenoid? And how do I test it. Thanks in advance |

Re: 96 ezgo txt controller
Just to understand, your son was driving in forward and slammed it into reverse?
Do you have a series motor? Does the solenoid click in either direction? Do you have a hand-held digital multimeter? Could be as simple as a bad microswitch or reed switch, but you'll need to go to the Stickies and download the wiring diagram for your cart and follow the low amperage (small wires - not big cables) to get the solenoid to click, if it isn't doing so. |

Re: 96 ezgo txt controller
It does not click in either direction. nor does the reverse warning tone beep when the lever is put in reverse. I believe I have a regen motor my controller is a PMC 73144G03 and my solenoid is a W-R/RBM 70-120224-5 coil 36VDC. S
Also, I do have a meter. Thanks, |

Re: 96 ezgo txt controller
Stock Series motor control testing:
CHECKING CONTROLLER INPUT Connect (-) probe to B- terminal. Connect (+) probe to B+ terminal. The reading should indicate approx. 0 volts with the resistor REMOVED and the pedal not pressed in the last 15-30 minutes. Slowly depress accelerator pedal until the solenoid engages. The reading should show the battery pack voltage. If the voltage is at or near battery voltage, the cart is in forward gear, and the motor is not turning, then the problem lies in the forward/reverse switch, the high amperage wiring, the speed controller, or the motor. If the voltage is not at or near battery voltage, replace the controller. CHECKING CONTROLLER OUTPUT Connect (-) probe to controller M- and (+) lead to controller B- With the key on and the cart in forward gear, press the pedal just far enough to hear the solenoid engage. You should read pack voltage between and M- and B-. Now continue to press the pedal down and watch the meter. The reading should gradually decrease to near 0 volts. If the input test was good and the ITS readings are correct and this test does not perform as described above then the controller has failed. |
