Default Series cart wont move all the time

just got a series pds with a Alltrax controller 4843. HD solenoid on 36v. Solenoid click and controller says its good to go but no movement. the batteries have 38.2V and it didnt move till i gave it a nudge, now it drive fine, but if i let it sit for a little while it might or might not do it, Does this sound like the f&w switch, I looked at it and it didnt look worn or melted anywhere.

It's either a Series cart or a PDS cart, can't be both.

You either have more carts than me (currently I have 10 R&D or personal carts) or you have a repair shop or a business selling golf carts. Which is it?

I would think it would have to be the F&W switch if the controller checks out fine. 4 green blinks then solid green but no movement.

Universal golf cart (Applies to both Series drives and SepEx drives) troubleshooting 101.

Does the solenoid click?
NO: Problem is in the solenoid activation circuit.
YES: Problem is in the High-Current circuit.

Troubleshooting High-Current circuit:
Connect DVM between B- and M- terminals on controller. (Note: M- may be labeled A1 on some SepEx controllers)
Push pedal just far enough to make solenoid click and you should read FULL battery pack voltage.

NO: Go searching for the missing voltage with using the test lead that was connected to the M- terminal.
With a SepEx drive, there is only the heavy gauge cables and the motor. In a Series drive, there is additionally the contacts in the F/R switch.

YES: Press pedal to floor and the voltage between B- and M- should decrease from FULL pack voltage to ZERO, or very close to it.

If so: The motor ought to be spinning, or something ought to be getting hot.

If not: Check the throttle signal at controller.

If the throttle signal doesn't vary as it should, troubleshoot the throttle circuit.

If throttle signal is within specs at the controller, the controller may be bad.

-----------
The above steps won't find every drive problem, but they will find most of them.
