Thinking about putting a marine stereo,speakers and amplifier on my cart, how will the batteries hold up?

What type of cart is it? I'd do a separate 12v deep cycle if it were mine.

I ran a setup like that in a Precedent with the 4x12 setup. I installed a radio, amp, sub, two sets of LED lights, two interior dome style lights, a third brake light that also functioned as a third turn signal, dual USB plugs and a 12V receptacle. It was a LOT of wire to say the least, but that was 2 years ago and he's still running on the same battery set. Though most here contradict my opinion on this matter, I don't typically use the 12V reducers. However in this case, given the draw from all that was a bit high I used one for that install. In your case, since you want an amp, I'd get a large 12v reducer and you should be fine. I'm not all to familiar with them but I think the one I used on that cart was a 60amp?

I'm curious of how much energy accessories such as stereos, led lights, etc use? Say if one did install a radio, amp, speakers, sub etc....how much would run time suffer? I know a lot of boat guys have some impressive stereos that will run for hours on two 12 volt deep cycle batteries. I would think a mild golf cart stereo wouldn't drain the batteries.

Any load added to any one battery or batteries but not ALL can cause issues; how much all depends on how much load. It takes more energy to recharge any batteries that are pulled down further than the rest. BUT the problem lies in that the energy must flow through all battery to recharge the battery that is further discharged. This will shorten the life of the batteries that were not discharged as much.

Any extended or heavy loads should be run through a voltage reducer or install an extra 12 volt battery just for the music system etc...

The drain isn't bad if installed properly. I didn't do any real extensive testing, but the guy I built that cart for told me he saw no real change in lifespan or performance.

So the optimal thing to do would be add an extra 12v deep cycle battery and keep it on separate charger when cart is parked?

Either or... Keep a balanced load via a reducer or install a separate battery....

A lightly unbalanced load may never show its face as a few here believe but a heavy unbalanced load may show its face a lot sooner by way of shortened battery life as most here beleive...

I still run a unbalanced load via my lights; but I almost never use my cart at night so I not going to worry about that...
