Batterry question
I just bought a 1995 E-Z Go. They describe it as having wiring problems and that it ran fine a month ago. There are obviously some of the cables that run from battery to battery that have corroded to the point that there is nothing to fit over the battery post. They have modified the charging cord. It is no longer a plug-in situation where it would normally be. I am brand new to this and have some questions.
Do you have to have a 220v line to charge it? |

Re: Batterry question
That is good news. This is a clandestine operation due to it being a Christmas gift for my kids. I will have to keep it and (hopefully not) have to work on it at a neighbor's house.

Re: Batterry question
If the charger was from a compatible system with a different style plug then somebody may hardwire it into the cart. The battery cables you describe need replacement BEFORE you try to charge or use. I hope you have some automotive and or electrical experience to go with this electrical basket case. What does your voltmeter read across the whole pack?

Re: Batterry question
jjbalabama - might I suggest that you take this cart to a certified golf cart shop? If you do not have the experience with the system(s), you will be money ahead by paying a few hours labor and have it properly serviced.

Re: Batterry question
I am not too mechanically inclined but I think, based on what I have seen and what the previous owner told me, that I need to replace the cables that run from battery to battery. Once I have done that I should be able to charge it and then see if anything else is wrong with it.

Re: Batterry question
How old are the batteries? Check to see if they have water in them. When changing cables, only do one at a time. It is always best to draw a picture, making a 'road map' of what you are going to do. This will serve as a reference, if you start to question what you are doing...
