Sounds like the controller is seeing a partially opened throttle when the solenoid contact close.

Adjusting the plunger and/or microswitch in the pedal box might fix it.

What drive system, Series or DCS?

What controller?

I had an odd ball cart once that needed a switch trigger mod to get the switch timing correct, later I suspected it had the wrong micro switch in it...

I would but its at the lake. We have used it for the last 4 years no problem till I changed batteries this year it sat all winter without batteries in it. Put new ones in and just turned the key and it took off. Researched what could be problem and that's when I found bad micro switch. Our ezgo place said to replace the ITS also. Now it jerks in forward and reverse when the throttle is touched then runs like normal just when the throttle is first pushed down. Thanks

Jack up rear end of cart so tires are off the ground and put on jackstands.

With Key ON and F/R in F position, connect a DVM between the B- terminal on the controller and Pin-1 (white wire) in the 6-pin plug on top of controller.

Push pedal just far enough to make solenoid click. What voltage do you read?

It should be between 0.4V and 0.6V.

Attached is a service manual for a 99 cart.
