Default Rxv brake smell and cart stopped

I have a rxv and when I bought it the guy said the top speed was turned up on it. It has 23 inch tires so it runs 27mph. Today when I had it stretched out for about a half a mile it smelled like brakes burning and it stopped. I was thinking maybe the brake that keeps it at 27mph got hot. Could this happen? Can I hid rid of it?

Sounds like it's time for a new parking brake. It is a common problem for an RXV. Especially the brakes with the manual release handle. There are a couple RXV techs on this forum that will be commenting soon to help you out.

No the brake needs replaced, but 27 mph has nothing to do with it. The controller doesnt think its going faster than 19mph, or that it has bigger than stock tires. Read up about the rxv around here. The motor brake does nothing to slow the cart during normal use, its only job during normal use is to hold the cart stopped after the controller has brought the cart to rest. The cart will fail its self test when key is turned on if the brake is not present (that means you arent driving any where), so it cant be eliminated (would be very unsafe to do so anyway, do you wanna jump off the cart to chock the wheels every time you come to a stop, or be unable to park on any slope or hill at all).

If the brake doesn't do nothing during normal use the. What makes the cart only run so fast? Why would it start stinking if it wasn't being used?

The controller limits the cart to 19 mph, when you added 23" tires it changes the drive ratio so the cart runs 27 mph, but the controller still thinks that the cart is going 19 mph. The brake is putting off a burning smell while it is not being used because it is bad.

The controller not only applies energy to the motor to increase speed, it also uses the motor as a alternator to slow down (or limit top speed) and put energy back in the batteries. The rxv has no "normal brakes" that it uses for slowing the vehicle, thats all done by regen braking (putting energy back into the batteries). The motor brake can be forced to activate while driving by jamming the brake to the floor (panic stop, its really bad for the motor brake).

If you still think we're wrong about the brake, just start buying all the expensive parts you think are wrong. OR, look up the rxv troubleshooting info on here so you can understand how this cart works.

Only reason I say that is because it doesn't smell today and it didn't smell last night after I let it sit for a hour and ride it again and I have rose it probably two hours today but not with it on the floor

Could the brake solenoid been going bad and let it ride the brake? Where is the cheapest place to get a replacement brake

The solenoid is for the motor controller, not just the brake. The brake is unlocked by applying power to it (it defaults to the locked position). The controller itself applies the power, that power wire then goes through the plug under the cupholder (will not unlock with plug out), it also goes to a switch that disconnects the power when the brake pedal is pressed far enough to hit the switch (causes motor brake lockup). There is no solenoid "just for" the motor brake. BTW, it draws about 1/2 amp according to the danaher controller.
