2010 Ezgo ST body PDS ??
We're shopping for a cart and we're newbies. From EXTENSIVE reading on this forum, I've read the PDS models shouldn't be lifted without upgrading the controller.
Here's my question: The cart I'm interested in is listed as a 2010 ST body PDS 36 volt. Does this mean it was factory lifted and should be ok? I know it has the factory controller in it, so I'm wondering if it would need to be replaced or not. Here's the stats from the listing: --Like New 2010 ST body PDS 36 volt --Headlights / Tail Lights --Upgraded Rear Seat Kit --Custom Two Tone Seats --Lifted 23x10x14 Tires --CD Player & 2 Speakers --5 Panel Mirror --Folding Windshield --Armrest with cup holders --Stainless Brush Guards --Custom Paint Job Does this sound ok, or does it sound like something that we'd need to upgrade the controller? Also, what would you expect to pay for a cart like this? I've also looked at a lifted 2010 RXV, 48 volt. - This cart would be a little cheaper than the 36 volt listed above. Will be using for campground driving, smooth surface... Some hills. Obviously I'd like to spend less money (which would mean the RXV) but I really prefer the looks of the ST PDS. Not sure which would meet our needs the best, and since we don't know a lot about carts... Which one would potentially give us less problems. (Both carts are at the same dealer.) THANKS!! :) |

Re: 2010 Ezgo ST body PDS ??
Can't speak for rvx but I bought an 02 PDS with lift and 22" tires. It was pretty fast and seemed to fit my needs. Then I brought it hunting in the woods. There are some mild hills and I learned quickly I needed to upgrade somewhere. Just me on the cart and it couldn't take it. It would pretty much stop to a crawl. So About $1000 later on cables/controller and $200 on limited slip, it does fine now and is really fast. If I have the bed loaded down And a passenger then I may need a little running start to get up steep hills. I will also note that I have a dump bed which is pretty heavy. I'd say PDS with used batteries should be in low $4000's and With New batteries as much as $5000. This is based on prices I see in south Louisiana market. Used carts from individuals are typically a lil cheaper.

Depends on the cart but it may be a plain txt with the ST cowl. Either way if it has the stock controller those 23s will shorten its life. Plan on upgrading it and the solenoid and maybe the wires as well. The RXV is also a good platform but much more expensive if big things break. I have owned a few but never lifted one.

These photos are of the cart I was interested in (2010 Ezgo ST body PDS). Thoughts? The battery photo concerned me somewhat... Does that interior (bottom part of photo) look like it's rusty inside there?
I've also found a customized 48 volt Club Car that I like, which isn't close enough for me to view in person...But I could purchase from certified dealer and have it shipped at a great price. It's completely rebuilt and comes with a warranty. If you had to chose the "best" brand... What would you pick? My head is spinning from all this golf cart searching. |

Lifted PDS with stock electronics. It will disappoint on any hill especially with added passengers. Figure $700 in upgrades needed. In this case the RXV may be the better buy for you as it won't need any upgrades to go camping.

Would you chose the RXV over the custom Club Car? They'd basically be the same price. The Club Car comes programmed at the higher speed setting from the dealer and has a warranty. With the speed level turned up on the CC, is it safe to assume that it would be faster or have more power than the RXV? (Although it's not like we need killer speed; this will be the family hauler around the campground.) |
