Solenoid or controller?
I have a 2003 lifted electric EZ Go that was converted from a 36 to a 46V car. My problem is this: when you press down the accelerator there is a clicking sound, but it will not move. We replaced the solenoid and still have the same problem. While charging, there were 4 green lights on the Alltrax controller. So, if there are lights, does that mean that the controller is working? I'd hate to have to purchase a controller and that not be the problem. Help...?

Re: Solenoid or controller?
The fact that it "CLICKS" when you push the peddle is GOOD. This mean the activation circuit is good, SO that means you have an issue in the High Current circuit (the BIG cables). start by checking to see if any of them are loose. OR if their is any corrosion on any of them. even if you don't see any, it couldn't hurt to take them apart one at a a time and clean them and re-connect them.

Re: Solenoid or controller?
AND if your cart has a TOW/RUN switch under the seat....ensure he/she places it in TOW before he/she disconnects anything.

The normal power up sequence for the LED is four green flashes (EZGO - ITS throttle selected) and then steady green. Is your cart a series drive, or PDS? |

Yes, it is a series drive.

Re: Solenoid or controller?
Also note the 4 flashes (recognition of Ezgo ITS throttle programming) must be followed by a steady green to operate. No green lights should appear before the pedal is pressed & solenoid clicks.

Re: Solenoid or controller?
It's a" NPX Nonprogrammable Series Motor Controller". My son, the 16 year old, hooked up the new solenoid we purchased. It didn't run after he did this, although you hear ONE click when you press down the accelerator, but it does nothing after that. Did he hook it up correctly? There are two red wires that he hooked up from the controller to the solenoid. Not sure what order the wires should be in...? I looked at the connections of the big wires, as someone suggested above, but didn't see any loose connections or corrosion. We just cleaned all the wires and sprayed the tops with anti corrosion spray. HELP!!!

Re: Solenoid or controller?
Here is a schematic for a NPX in an EZGO series drive cart.
It doesn't show two red wires on the solenoid coil terminal, but the output of the pedal switch was split within the wiring harness to go to both the solenoid coil and to the controller and that split failed a lot, so a previous owner may have had a problem with it and ran a wire from the solenoid coil terminal to the controller. Does the solenoid click when the pedal is pushed and then "Unclick" when you lift your foot off the pedal? After the solenoid clicks, does the LED flash green 4 time and then go to a steady green? ------------ Sounds a bit like you might have more than one problem. 1. Getting the pedal to energize and de-energize the solenoid. 2. Getting cart to go after the solenoid is energized. |
