2005 PDS - All accesories quit working after rain storm
We got stuck in a bad rain storm, towing the cart on our trailer on the highway and I didn't have the cart in TOW mode and to my surprise, after driving the cart the next weekend all the power accessories have quit working.
Its a 36V cart with a DC to DC converter, with aftermarket headlights, blinkers/hazards, a marine radio with speakers and horn.... It seems to be getting power to the fuse block from the converter, but nothing to the accessories, all the listed items no longer work. The cart drives fine. I'm curious if it could be the key switch or the Forward/Reverse switch? I'm not sure what else to check at this point? Thanks Matt |

Check the output of your DC to DC converter. It may have died or a fuse may have blown if things got wet.

If you have 12 volts at the fuse box check the other side of the fuse. If it is a stock fuse panel they have issues with corrosion.

Re: 2005 PDS - All accesories quit working after rain storm
Thanks for the replies. I'm getting the same voltage on both sides of the fuse box. I've swapped out the main inline fuse to the converter just in case.... but still nothing. So odd? Everything is clean, no corrosion anywhere.
When it was working, if I put on the blinker, then the radio would shut off. What controls that? |

Sounds like you have some ground issues

Zero accessories should be grounded to the cart frame and all should come back to the ground wire on the converter.

Re: 2005 PDS - All accesories quit working after rain storm
So is my problem as simple as the key switch?
Update, I've taken the ground off the battery and cleaned the connections, not really dirty at all. I also took the radio out and I took out the key switch and inspect everything, making sure all the wires are in place and visually OK. I just cannot find the source of issue. So we are cruising the neighborhood right after the above things were done and put back together and about 10 minutes in, the radio just randomly comes on and all our accessories are working again! Why???? So another 45 minutes later.... I'm excited everything is working again and driving my kids around and playing around, beeping the horn and everything quits working again. Could the key switch be going bad? I'm thinking all the accessories go through the key... And with that said, I say this because that's what controls the headlights, right and turning from no headlights to headlights on the switch will actually turn the radio or blinkers off as well. So is my problem as simple as the key switch? Or maybe.... I need to inspect the connection going into the controller? |

Re: 2005 PDS - All accesories quit working after rain storm
The cart drive system and the 12V accessories are essentially separate entities, so messing with the controller isn't recommended.
The problem that those of us that are willing and have the abilities to help you troubleshoot your accessory problem, cannot do so because we don't know how the accessories on your cart are wired. You mentioned you had a DC to DC converter feeding aftermarket lighting, radio and horn. The 12V accessories tend to be wired about the same, each having two wires, the positive one attached to a fuse block and the negative one connected to a common point, often (incorrectly) referred to as ground. On the other hand, there are several DC to DC converters out there and not all of them are wired the same, so pictures of your DC to DC converter and fuse block and "ground" block might provide enough information to figure out how it is wired. |

Re: 2005 PDS - All accesories quit working after rain storm
You say the accessories go through the key.. Couple of questions.. Do you have the standard single position key switch or the two position made for factory lights ? If you have the double switch do the other accessories start working at the first click ? If so, does the cart still work after they quit ?
If it is a double position switch and the accessories come on at the first click and the cart still works it isn't the switch.. |
