Default Confused, resistor , diode question

I need to put one or both a resistor and or diode on the solenoid of my recently converted (36to4 cart I have seen references to both, can someone tell me which one to use or do I use both.and if possable the part number at radio shack I have seen it on here somewhere. the KID at my radio shack has no idea.. Thanks

you should use both but don,t get them at radio shack........check the sponsors here they will have the right parts at a better price and they are made for golfcarts.............same as solenoid get one made for a golfcart ............................................

One goes across the small terminals, the other goes across the large terminals. I don't remember which goes where, but I do know the direction of the diode is important. The resisitor has no polarity.

The resistor goes accross the large terminals the diode on the smalls....read pages 7,8, & 9 about how and why at Allrax ....http://www.alltraxinc.com/files/Doc1...ns-Learned.pdf

you can tell with the resistor it has ring terminals on the ends for the larger studs, the diodes have no terminals you just bend the ends around the smaller studs and your diode will have a silver band around it towards one end that end must go towards positive side of solenoid............................

Look at the diagram in stickies. Top one it shows you them both. Diode on small terminals, the band on the diode has to be on the + side of the terminal. Juice coming in side. The resister on large.
