Default '94 EZ GO won't go

Hello, I have a 1994 EZ Go 36V electric that I've owned for about 4-5 yrs. Due to multiple reasons the batteries went bad. It's been pretty much garage stored except for about 2 months. It sat for about 5 months with the bad batteries in it with no attention. When it was still running, as the batteries went bad, I would leave it on the charger continually and the charger seemed to work properly but in the end I would unplug it and only get about 15 min. run time.

Fast forward to today. After it sitting for the above mentioned time and conditions, I've purchased 6 new batteries and have installed them. All but one cables are new. I've plugged the charger in and it went up to 15A and slowly fell to almost 10A before it shut off. (which brings up another issue and that's my charger).
Anyway, my problem here is that I'm not too smart when it comes to things electrical troubleshooting. I have a $15 meter that seems to work but I need help using it to figure out my problem.
Here's the issue:
First, nothing is smoking or melting! Second, after switching from tow/maintenance to run, turning the key on, switching to forward or reverse, all I hear is the clicking noise (I assume is the solenoid) and nothing else. I assume I need to do a series of checks but I can use some help. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello- can you identify the drive system and give the manufacture code from the ID tag? I suspect you have the 1st year DCS cart (no PDS carts this year)and by running the batteries down low you may have fried the speed control. Typical problem for this drive system. It is likely your F&R switch does not match one of the 3 in the chart please post a pic of it... 1st year DCS F&R switch were unique.

first, seeing as how you have a "TOW SWITCH". you either have a DCS or PDS cart....and seeing has how you hear the CLOCK when you attempt to GO....that means that your solenoid activation circuit is good, so that next thing to check is the High Current circuit....which are all the BIG cables. you mentioned that the cart has been sitting for an extended period of time. SO, one and a time, remove each high current connection, clean it, apply some dielectric lube, replace the fastener.....after you have done them all, check for operability of your cart.

thanks for the replies guys. I'll get some info and come back prepared. A few years back I did a serial number check and that's how I knew it to be a '94. I've never had the cover off of the control box so that'll be a new deal for me. At work now so I'll know more this evening. Scottyb, you are correct my F&R switch does not match the ones in your attachment. It's more basic. Sir Nuke, When you say high current connection do yo mean at the motor or control box?

There is little doubt you have a first year DCS cart and you may have a bad control due to low voltage operation when batteries were dying out. 100% sure if you ever ran it down until it stopped that it killed the control. This was a design flaw of the original DCS which was eliminated by the aftermarket Alltrax control like our pkg. #505

the High Current cables.....all of them.....the ones on the batteries, the ones that go from the controller to the motor, ANY cable.....they are all part of the High Current Circuit.

Here's some more info. It appears that I was wrong, I believe what I have is a '95. I'll try a post a few pics too.
