Default New Cables No Reverse

I replaced all my cables on my 98 EZGO TXT with 4 g,now it won't move in reverse. It worked in forward and reverse in the shed after the wires where installed and it runs like a scalded dog in forwards. Took it for a test drive came back, no reverse. I can hear the solenoid clicking when the pedal is pushed but it will barely move backwards when you push the cart. Made certain I didn't over tighten anything. Double checked all connections and nothing is loose. Confused and thanks in advance for any help

check connection at the f/r switch .. ensure it is making good contact
throw it back and forth a few times then try reverse

You Could just swap the 2 F&R cables at the 3 and 9 oclock positions. If the problem swaps direction it may have an untimely F&R contact problem.

Ok I switched the cables on posts 3 and 9 so it goes backwards in forward but no forward in reverse. What is my next step? Which one is for reverse #9?

It sounds like the problem stayed with the F&R location - when the cables were switched cart direction was switched.

The problem is most likely the F&R. It is possible you have tightened up the F&R lug too much at the not working location. Whatever the trouble the F&R switch is a wear item and should be replaced with the best HD model you can find.

Yes. I would agree with this. You can check this by pulling your F\R switch apart and looking at the contacts. They should be flush with the board. If the contacts have "sunk" from being flush with the board, then the board needs replaced. If you have a 48-V it's best to get an heavy duty board. If you really want to get rid of the weak link, then install a HD or SD contacting switch that ScottyB sells. I went the contacting switch route and never looked back.

Thanks all that is my conclusion I tightened the $ 9 connection tighter than I had it at first and I got it going. Worked fine for a while then it quit again. Fiddled with the f&r switch and it goes. I will be getting me a new F&R switch. Thanks for all your help, seems like anytime I do a simple project something bigger always pops up. Just my luck. Thanks again

It's common for most folks to tighten electrical connections like lug nuts .... all that's needed is enough pressure to hold the lug and terminal in constant contact.
