Controller Sparking Arcing
Good afternoon. Yesterday I jumped on the old EZGO for my Sunday neighborhood patrol. When backing out I heard a dull pop, but kept backing out.
Then there was the smell of burning plastic. So I pulled the cart back under the carport to take a look at it. Some of the cables were a little corroded so I cleaned everything up and made sure no cables or connections were loose or broken and hooked everything back up. Well, when I press the accelerator down there is some serious arcing inside the black box under the white 4 pin connector on top of the controller. I can see the sparking thru a small opening in the box. The cart will still move but when you press on the pedal there's some serious arcing inside the box. Does this mean the controller went bad? Here are the specifics EZGO AU2500 FLTSPD 11/26/02 36V Thank you for any assistance |

Re: Controller Sparking Arcing
Could be the controller is bad or the connection is just bad at the molex connector. What ever it is - best to not try to move it until you fix it.

Re: Controller Sparking Arcing
I'm also looking at controllers for sale. All the 5 pin controllers I see for sale have 3 posts, missing the A2 post. I need one that has 4 posts and the 5 pin controller. Part No 350052. Anyone?

Forklifts. Early electric golf carts were forklift based operating systems. Later manufactures realized a lot of unwanted heat was being generated by dumping amperage via the A2 terminal. So they bypassed it and you can too.
Use any 3 blade series control that has capacity to read your particular throttle signal. |

Re: Controller Sparking Arcing
So the cable that goes to the A2 can be removed? Tape it off, or connect to one of the other blades?
And I wish this was as cheap to fix as a bathroom light! |
