Need bad boy buggy help! Opinions
So I have a 2008 Bad Boy buggy that i picked up from a guy in central ohio. he basically knew nothing about how to maintain the cart, as it was given to him by the tv show he was hunting for, and therefore it's had a pretty rough life. It needed batteries, among other things, when we picked it up for 1000 bucks and we installed 8 new interstate 6v batteries. (we dont have a trojan or bad boy dealership within 2 hrs of us, so it is what it is).........
anyways, the issue(s) is THIS: the front end is junked, as told to us by the dealership we took it to for service, finally, after we couldnt figure out the problems our selves. it sounds like the motor or the u joints on the front axle are dragging when you drive it. the motor on the front works and pulls, but it sounds terrible. well, the guy took it apart and said a bunch of mud and bearings, bolts etc.... just fell out of the pan when he took it apart. Sooooo..... long story short, he told me the entire front driveshaft, axle, etc... "piece" would have to be replaced since they didnt make individual parts anymore for the older bad boy buggies. Does anyone know of anybody that might have a bad boy buggy "boneyard" of sorts????? He quoted 2100!?!!!??!! Bucks just to buy the parts, no labor. Also, if theres no luck on finding a used one, any ideas on buying a new one? lastly, what would YOU do if you were basically in this cart at 2k by now, 1k for purchase, 1k for batts and a few cable repairs............ ANY HELP APPRECIATED!!!!!!!! |

I would buy a long travel front end and install it. And sell the front axle motor and controller and be ahead of the game. And have a nice cart. Parts are hard to find

What type of front axle is it? Mine is a converted EzGo rear axle. Until you hit the outboard CVs, you can swap in stock EzGo parts.

Great ideas guys! I'll take some pictures soon. Not sure what type axle it is. Any 4wd 'conversion' kits I could rob the front end from? HATE to lose the highly sought -after 4wd!

Mine is also the converted ezgo rear.
Mine has a little slop thats only noticeable at 25mph and up. I have not found parts anywhere for them. Wild, does your BBB have 4 or 5 lugs on the front? Mine has 5 and I have not seen any others with the five bolt pattern. |

Re: Need bad boy buggy help! Opinions
BBB's are notoriously know for being short lived on their 4WD systems, and their controllers and electrical systems. So, why would you want to re-install a used front wheel drive BBB system knowing that it simply isn't going to last?
I live in Southwestern Pa. near the Laurel Highland's. This area of the world gets to the mid 90's in the summer and into the teen's in the winter during hunting season. My EZ-GO series TXT has a limited slip differential along with a permanent Warne winch in the front, and a Warne winch that can be attached to the trailer hitch in the back. (Temp one). I go up and down hills and mountains. (These are real hills and real mountains. The only bigger one's can be found just south in West Virginia.) Plus, with the post-traction, & two-WD your battery life will be extended. If it were my $$$$$ I would look at putting a lift kit on the front, a quality controller from Alltrax on it ('cause the BBB controller will toast on you at a very bad time) and just make sure you have some quality mudder tires on it. A good set of 2-ga. wires, a Super Duty F\R Contacting Switch from ScottyB and your good to go. I'm assuming you have brakes....or will have brakes on all 4 wheels. 'Cause if you have any hills where you live (and I don't know where you live) you will need brakes. Remember......speed isn't the requirement. Torque is. My cart only goes 7-mph, but I have enough torque to rip the teeth out of a grizzly. Yeah.....I'm not fooling. FWIW Dave |

You might be able to get new gears and fix that front end

Re: Need bad boy buggy help! Opinions
Id be tempted to clean it up replace the seals, bearings and see what happens, as long the u-joint/cv joints are ok. Mine has automotive style cv joints.
