Default Wheel offset and Tires

I have a problem with my tire width.
My trailer is only 4' wide and my cart is about 2" too wide to fit on it.
My current tire and wheel setup is 23x10.5-12 EFX tires. And 12x7 ET-47 SS's.
Is the ET-47 a code for the backspacing? My cart is an old TXT that was converted to a ST 2+2.
What offset and tire combo can i run? Not sure what kind of lift It has. I think it's factory.
I'm wanting a narrower allterrain in the same height.

Thanks, Hop

well assuming we are talking about the cart in your avatar....your cart is lifted. NARROWING the track width is not a good idea, for the simple reason is it intensifies the willingness for roll overs. Our carts are top heavy to begin with. You didn't say, but is your trailer a standard flat OPEN trailer with short sides? if so, you could widen it by cutting the sides off and extending them out a little.

OR

you could get you a set of STOCK cart wheels, but it involves a little work every time you load/unload your cart, by swapping them out and them back once you get to where you are going.

or worst case.....just get a wider trailer.

or u might could just add more air to your tires . or get a good size 2x8 and put it under the tire and have the 2x8 sticking out and then strap it down

My trailer is angle iron sided. I planned on using the cart for hunting trips. I'd run the narrow tires on dirt farm roads and i'm not really worried about rollover, it's all flat land. I'm limited on space in the garage for any bigger trailer. And the added cost of a new one it would be cheaper to buy new wheels & tires.

Can anyone tell from the pics what offset my rims are?
I'd like to go to a different offset and or possibly narrower rim and tire.
I'm not wanting to switch stock tires back and forth every trip.

Adding more air to the tires won't give me enough clearance. The rims hit.

nope.....and as crazy as it sounds, I have the exact same wheels on my cart (they were on it when I bought it) and have no idea what the offset is.

are the y 10's or 12's?

ET-47 is the offset but, i'm not sure how much that is. Or which direction to go +/- to tuck them in closer to the frame.

Just curious....but are your rear tires just as wide as your front tires?

well DUH!! what was I thinking.....that gives us all the info! and I guess I didn't read the first post close enough.....anyway, so you have a 12x7 wheel....with a -47mm offset.

this means your wheels/tires mounting hub is 47mm (roughly 1-13/16") inside the exact center if the wheel.....which pushes the wheel OUT away from the cart.....so yes it is another way to think about BACKSPACING. Your wheel are 7".....if the offset had a ET 0....the flange or mating surface would be in the exact middle. Make sense?

SO you need to bring in your weeks about 1" to the side for a total of 2" for it to clear.

so to get that, using the same tires and 7" wheels, you need to find wheels with an ET of -19 or less.

but before you go put and buy them, you would need to look at your current wheels and measure to see how much clearance you have on the back side to pull in. you could end up with a clearance issue. if you do, you will need to look for wheels/tires that are skinnier, like 6".

here is a page you can keep as a reference, and my make more sense as its got some pictures.....I know that for me.....pictures are a good thing.
