Default Trailering your cart

Hi All
I was reading my owner's manual and it says if trailering you must remove the windshield and the roof to avoid damage to the cart. I'm sure I have seen people towing their carts intact, but now I'm second guessing... I don't have an enclosed trailer. What do you do if/when you trailer your cart?
Thank you

There will be lots of opinions on this, I trailered my Clubcar a bunch with the windshield half folded down facing forward. The only time I towed it facing backward I broke one of the retaining clips.

If yours has a full non folding wind screen, you might be better taking it off. If your not driving far or fast (less than 60mph) leave it on. It might depend on the tow vehicle and trailer height also.

Clear as mud?

I put mine in the back of the truck and with the windshield folded down everything is usually fine. The windshield was a little loose one time and slipped some and scratched the paint. So I would say fold it in half and make sure its on tight and pull away.

I took mine halfway to vegas in back of pickup, then decided to take my full windshield off. Noticed a huge reduction of drag. I say, just for the MPG alone, take windshield off.

I trailer my RXV with half windshield almost daily to the golf course about ten miles away with occasional trips into Austin golf courses 40 miles away. The only ill effects are the bugs on the windshield. Speed limits are 50 to 70. Have a number of friends doing the same without problems either.

AND depending on how fast you plan on pulling your cart.....load the cart, and look at how it sits on the trailer....look at the floor of the trailer.....is it level? or maybe pitched either up or down?....IF you leave the top on......and on depending on how its sitting....if the front of the trailer is HIGHER then the back, the wind will tend or try to LIFT the cart (put a lot of stress on the top) and could damage your top or even pull it off.....if the front of the trailer is LOWER, the wind going over/around the cart will put a down force in the cart and will make it STAY on the cart....it will ask like a big wing/spoiler on the back of a car. the top will act just like the wing on this dragster.

either way.....make sure you strap down the cart really good.

I used to tow lots of carts on freeways at speeds up to 70 mph on open trailers. We didn't want to spend time removing parts we didn't have to so most had windshields. I facing forward and secured in the up position they fair well. If you fold em down tie it down as well.

I recently trailered an ezgo with full windshield. Went 70-78 mph for 120 miles and no problem but my mpg were lower than I have ever seen before.
