Default Trying to fill my gear box with oil .?.?.?

I had a rough/no oil sound coming from my gear box so I decided to look around for the fill and drain plug. Well I found the drain plug and took it out Nd nothing came out .. As I expected ... So I stuck my finger in the hole and got brown rusty oil back. That prompted me to go ahead and remove the gear box cover. It had a pool of rusty sludgy brown old *** oil in it. So I cleaned it all and the best I could. I also found two "bearing" looking things. I think they may be bad and that might be where my sound is coming from. I am trying to add pics. I added one. It shows what I think might be where you add oil. That's the only thing I could find ... . I would appreciate some more help from u fellas. It's a 92 ezgo marathon electric 36 volts. Three wheel. Thanks

Its actually correct that nothing comes out. You have to remove the pan to drain and fill the oil. However, what you see is a water oil mix. That is bad any which way. You need to fully clean that rear end and make sure there is no pitting or bad wearing patterns. Brake parts cleaner, degreaser, etc to clean it out. Then make sure everything is in good shape, then clean it again with brake parts clenaer and let it dry. Spray a little oil on the parts before putting the pan back on. That is your best avenue to action where you are now

There is bad pitting inside the pan... I am going to take a dremel tool to it and sand out the rust... I guess I have some bad seals and maybe need to replace those bearings.. How intensive is it to remove the entire rear end and break it down... I feel that is what I need to do... Or at least replace the bearings and seals.???..

Then fill through the plug on the pan 'till oil seeps out. But first, you got a whole lotta cleaning to do!

My question is , I am pretty sure these are bearings and I am also pretty sure they are shot. Where can I find them or what are they called so I will know what to look for. And how the heck do I get them out. Do I need to remove the drive shafts to let the bearings out?

This went from solid brown rust to this ... Clean as it is gonna get ... And I used about 5 big ol cans of break cleaner to clean the inside of the gearbox. That break cleaner is some bad stuff !!! Got the pAn back on and waiting for the gasket to dry and gonna put some oil in it Tomorrow and literally drive it till the wheels fall off.

Not yet ... I am going to circulate some of this good oil around in there for a little while and then change the bearings and then change the oil again. Maybe this good oil will help clean some of the hard to reach areas.

Yep, lets see what you have to work with first. I think you will need a full bearing job, at least. Lets run it for a few miles. That was pretty bad, i dont have high expectations for the gears either. We'll see how nasty it really is.
