Default Another charging issue

I recently acquired a 2004 ezgo txt standard cart. I was told the powerwise charger was bad. So dropped it off at the cart place for repair. They called and stated the charger is fine. So I bring it back home and plug it into the cart and nothing (after a few minute wait). I checked the connections and they appeared fine.

Thanks for the replies. Well it looks like the previous owner tried to rewire the charging system but didn't do it correct as I do not see a 3rd wire at the charging port. There are 2 wires going from the charging port to battery with no fuse.

After looking at the wiring, looks like they had the positive hooked up to the negative side of the battery. I swapped them around but the charger will still not start.

looking at your pictures......its obvious that the Read Switch wire isn't there at all.....its a "sensing wire" that tell the charger its connected and it can turn on. and the fact that the + and - were hooked up wrong says something as well.

well for the reed switch wire needs to be there, even if its bypassed at the receptacle, which I am sure its not as we can see in your picture its not there.

SO which do you have a SERIES drive cart or a SEPEX drive cart (PDS)? you need the wiring diagram to you can put the reed switch wire in that you need.

The charger port is wired correctly, but the wires are (were) connected to the wrong batter pack terminals. (Black is negative - White is positive)

The reason why the charger won't turn on when connected to your cart is because someone has added and insulator sleeve to the negative radsok (Treminal) in the charger port.

The auxiliary contact in the charger plug has to touch the outside of the negative radsok to sense the cart's battery pack voltage, which turns on the charger.

Remove the insulator sleeve from the radsok with the black wire attached and the charger will probably work. (If the pack voltage at the charger port is above about 28V)

Of course, if the battery pack was actually charged backwards, it is most likely a set of six boat anchors.

The reed switch has nothing to with battery charging, other than it disables the controller so the cart cannot be driven away when a charger is connected. It is connected to the Positive radsok or some other positive voltage source.

The battery sensing circuit that turns on the battery charger is connected to the Negative radsok.

Those two circuits often get confused, but are entirely separate circuits even though they both originate in the charge receptacle.

A reed switch is not need for the cart to run.

I am assuming series, there was no cover on the controller when I got the cart. Can you tell by the photo?
