Default Need help with motor

I have what I believe to be a txt pds and I think I ordered the wrong motor. The speed sensor from the original motor is round with a small clip wire connection. The new motor has a larger three prong connection. Is there a way to make the new motor.work with the existing components?20150903_024558.jpg

Cut the black circular object (speed sensor) off the PDS speed sensor cable and the Deutsch DT04-3P connector off the new motor.

Connect Red wire to Red wire, Black wire to Black wire and Green wire to White wire.

Before doing any cutting, what is Make/Model of new motor?

Need to be sure it is compatible with a PDS controller or aftermarket controller for a PDS.

Johnnie,

this is along the same lines as the original post. I sold my motor and like a dummy did not remove the speed sensor and wire. At the time I had no idea the sensor would break free from the motor. Do you know if I can just find a universal connector and run wires to the new motor (after cutting off the Deutsch connector). Or do I need to buy a new speed sensor with wires and cut the sensor off?

You need the original harness to plug into the controller. The guy who bought your old motor may have an extra one

Thanks Scotty I was afraid of that. Was hoping I could buy just the harness, but looks like I have to buy the whole assembly, and cut off the sensor. I'll check with the guy I sold it to first.

The plug needed at the controller end is an off-the-shelf 3-pin MOLEX, but I don't know the part numbers for it or the male pins.

Instead of buying a new speed sensor assembly, you might find a used one, or a bad one, by posting a WTB type thread in the parts forum:http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/golf-carts-parts/

I cut the PDS speed sensor cable to remover it from the cart when I installed a DCX controller. Fortunately, I saved the plug with a few inches of wires attached, so I was able to patch together a kluge when I installed an XCT.

Every one with a DCX installed in their PDS cart has or had an unused Speed sensor harness.

You can buy molex connectors from many electronics distributors. You just need to locate the right one. They are cheap! (Digikey would be where I would look first)
