1998 txt stopped working
I have a ezgo txt E198, serial number 1087484
I was following Scotty B's trouble shooting on ITS not sure if that's what I even have, anyhow. Cart was running great and just stopped going in mid trip across my driveway. There is no tow switch on my model that I can see. I cleaned all terminals replaced all battery cables with new ones. My pack voltage reads 37.6 volts. I replaced solenoid, still nothing, so I had the rear jacked up and hooked a jumper to back battery positive and the small post with red wires of solenoid. The pedal was already depressed slightly, well it sparked at solenoid and **** cart started running, jumper wire wasn't touching anything. So I let off pedal and it stopped, depressed it again and it seemed to be working fine, then the jumper touched post again and sparked now nothing works at all.. I have full pack voltage on battery side of solenoid but controller side large post is .2 in forward key on and pedal pushed. Any help would be appreciated, hopefully I didn't screw up controller! Thanks |

Re: 1998 txt stopped working
The pedal box micro switch is pretty lightweight when it comes to reversed polarity situations... If the solenoid won't activate any more check out the micro switches and reed switch if you have one intact.

The reed switch is located inside the charge terminal. It is the small wire with the little fuse looking thing on it. To bypass it you just remove it and connect the wire back without it. EZGO no longer puts them on the carts.

Yea I don't think I have one, previous owner wired charger to battery pack and it stays in the cart just plugs in to wall

Re: 1998 txt stopped working
The reed switch is in the charger socket.. It provides power to the activation circuit when it is unplugged. Check for + pack voltage on the red wire going to the 2 microswitchs in the fnr box.
