Solenoid Clicks 3 Times CArt Won't Go
When I press the pedal the solenoid clicks 3 times but cart won't go. I've been reading this forum for a week and I can not seem to get to the right answer. I followed the diag flow chart and get to step 13 (voltage between controller F1 and F2) and read 0 volts but I am not sure I am doing that test correctly. I have tested the motor with a straight connection and it fired up fine. Any help would be much appreciated.
Info: EZGO PDS Cart Standard Curtis Controller Brand New Batteries Installed, charged and reading 38.2 . Cart was running fine but sat for over a year. |

Re: Solenoid Clicks 3 Times CArt Won't Go
Lift rear wheel off ground and put on jackstands so half-ton cart doesn't take off unexpectedly and run over someone or something.
Place Run/Tow switch in Tow before connecting or disconnecting anything electrical on cart. Does the solenoid click and stay clicked when you push the pedal? If not, we'll have to troubleshoot the solenoid activation circuit to determine if controller or external wiring/switches is bad. If so, connect voltmeter leads to B- and A1 terminals. Push pedal just far enough for solenoid to click and you should get full battery pack voltage. Slowly push pedal to floor and the voltage should smoothly decrease to zero. if not, either controller or throttle circuit is bad. --------------- Sitting for a long time...... Try unplugging all plugs on the controller. spay clean them and plug them back in. Also spray clean the contacts in the in-line connector between pedal box and cart's wiring harness. |

What do you mean by stay clicked? I'll be home in 2 hours and I'll do the test then. Thanks.

The controller energizes the solenoid, so if the solenoid isn't staying energized while the pedal is pushed, the controller is probably bad. However, there is a possibility that one or more of the switches that tells the controller to energize the controller is misbehaving and we'll have to make some troubleshooting to determine if the controller is bad internally, or if the problem is external to the controller. |

Re: Solenoid Clicks 3 Times CArt Won't Go
I removed and cleaned all plugs and they all looked good. I believe the solenoid is staying clicked but I am still not 100% on knowing how to tell that. I did the b- a1 test. Before I press the pedal it reads 37.4 when the solenoid clicks it drops to around 18 +- 3 and then goes back to 37.4 .

Re: Solenoid Clicks 3 Times CArt Won't Go
I would not describe the clicking as rapid but more of a 1 2 3 pulsing .

Re: Solenoid Clicks 3 Times CArt Won't Go
Connect you voltmeter to the main Positive and main Negative terminals on the battery pack.
What does the pack voltage do when you press the pedal? If it is dropping significantly after the solenoid clicks, you may have a bad battery. -------- Your batteries are less than 80% charged. |

Tested several times and it goes from 38.0 to 37.6 at the biggest drop. On a lot of them it does not change at all.
