I am lost
I have a 2009 PDS 36V. I went out of town for about a week and I had 4 red flashes on my charger when I came back and bug was dead. I cleaned everything up, checked water levels, but nothing. Then the charger went blank, no LED lights. I thought it was m charger, so I went out and bought a new charger, I also used a manual charger to get a base charge on the batteries. The reverse switch now makes a noise, but neither charging is working. I have removed the receptacle and cleaned it as well. An ideas?

Re: I am lost
What is the pack voltage now? The reverse buzzer may work on as little as 12v, but the charger wont.

Well it sounds like you had the QE charger. About the size of a loaf of bread, and about as worthless a charger as you can get. What did you replace it with? And even then, if you had a completely dead cart in a week there is something else at hand drawing power.

Re: I am lost
To be more specific, I tried to drive the buggy and it lasted about half the block. I left it alone for about a month, so I think that is why the batteries are completely dead. I don't have voltage tester. I have a small plug in cables, put in on 12V and charged 2 batteries at a time, each set of 2 for about an hour. Think I should charge them longer?

Re: I am lost
The QE is considered a "throw away" charger. It will work, but if it fails again bite the bullet and get a DPI unit or used Powerwise (not QE)
You'll need far more than an hour per 2 batteries. These are deep cell. I think I recall a full run on an EZGO being close to 16 hours. Charge the batteries to at least 5.0 volts each to get the charger to activate. I think under 24V (that's not exact, but close at least off hand) the charger will not activate. Once you get 30V on the pack the charger will work. If it's running for loooooong periods of time boiling the batteries, they're toast. Recharge, get to 30V and then plug in the charger. I usually charge one at a time for 4 hours or so on a slow charge using a charger designed for the smaller voltage units. Assuming you don't have that, charge the two at a time for 3-4 hours and then move to the next pair. |

Re: I am lost
Got a voltage meter, all batteries are at 6 or above. The old charger and the new charger not working. I took the buggy for a ride and it died after about 2 minutes. Could it be the batteries are shot?

Re: I am lost
Check your voltage at the socket. It needs to be near 30 volts for the charger to come on.

Re: I am lost
the two gold charging plugs give out a voltage around 35.8. Why won't the charger pick it up?

Re: I am lost
If you have access to another charger try that or try your new one on another cart. At 35 plus it should come on.
