Default 03 TXT modification assistance

Whats up Gents.

I own a nearly stock 03 EXGO TXT/PDS that is in pretty good shape. My Grandfather used it lightly from 07-10, after which it was given to me. Basically it was a golf course unit that was sold in 06 to a local guy who refurbished and sold them; needless to say its not exactly right but it was good enough.

The batteries were Workhorse, that had issues with leaking, that has been solved as I have a new set of Trojan 105s waiting to go in now. The battery tray Ive repaired, by cleaning off all the corrosion and sand/prime/paint the tray. The brakes have been changed out as they were paper thin and the cart did not stop well. And one of the brake cable brackets on the rear was bent, and has been fixed as well. I am in process of pulling the body off now so as to be able to access to fix/clean whatever else needs. The body is not right, and looks like at some point someone cut it for some reason around the back end of the rear wheels (I will attach pictures later).

Ive pulled the rack/pinon off as it was leaking very badly, along with the steering assembly (from column to the steering box, does that thing need a boot? There is grease everywhere on it.). The bottom seal on the steering box was not installed properly and the grease was seeping. The whole front end is cleaned out, the seal will be here this week.

Anyway for my real set of questions - I am going to be ordering/installing the following:
Tools I need:
  • Pop Rivet gun + rivets - Looking for suggestions
  • Pickle fork

Now, as I have been disassembling the cart, ive noticed that the tabs on the sides of the rear body that rivet to the frame, two are broken, bent/etc. Again I think the local guy just spit and polish them, fixed what he had to and resold. The flip/flop passenger seat is in pretty bad shape, its made out of some sort of plastic fiber board looking stuff that most of the screws are stripped out.. Did i mention how heavy that rear seat is?? The frame that holds the flip flop seat is a bolt together type, with an extremely heavy foot rest. If this can be replaced with a permanent rear seat that would be ideal, especially if there is a lighter weight version. Very open to suggestions, I would consider this a later on project as I would rather get the cart lifted, fixed and running. Then as the funds are available later swap out the rear seat.

I know that if I take the body off, that I will have to use a rivet gun to reattach them, and Ive drilled some out already (some just pulled/fell out). What size rivets do I need?

The body itself is wine colored with some white vinyl pin stripes on it, of which i can scrape them off with my thumb nail. Other than removing the pin stripes and giving it good wax and a buff I think it would look alright except for the cut/patch job that was done on the rear end... I hate to do all the other work to it and leave the body as is, as the rear looks like a hack job.. but geez replacement bodies seem to be pretty pricey.

you can get a great rear flip seat around $289 from Steeling a site sponsor

get the ezgo rivet kit,

there are 4 rivets that are large and need a air riveter to get in , change them out with 1" large head pop rivets

i get them from local shop for $50 (front & rear) check around

Kolt.....obviously Crash has you covered.....so with that I will offer you this.....

CONGRATS on the ride, and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

For the difference in price, given that you seem to want to do it right, you may as well go up to 2awg cables. You are only talking about $20 in difference or so.
