my brother has them in his 02 TXT other than that he had one bad post, ( I think caused by loose connection) he has never had a problem. He has had them almost 3 years and unlike me he is not anal about maintenance. So all in all I would say that they are a good battery.

Other than them not having as many AH as the batteries typically found in a 36V battery pack, they are okay if your charger is compatible with US Battery batteries, which need a slightly higher finish charge to be fully charged.

US Battery 1800 has 208AH - 36V packs usually have 225AH.

The US Battery 1800 series battery is the bargain basement economy line. I am a US dealer and I don't use them. I use the 2200 as my lowest offering. The stats on the 1800 are:
Product Name:
US 1800 XC2
Voltage:
6-Volt Deep Cycle – Golf, Multi-purpose

Data:
20 Hour Rate: 208
Minutes of Discharge @ 75 Amps: 107
Minutes of Discharge @ 25 Amps: 392

Length: 10 1/4” (260mm)
Width: 7 1/8” (181mm)
Height: 11 1/4” (286mm)

The stats on the 2200 are;
Product Name:
US 2200 XC2
Voltage:
6-Volt Deep Cycle – Golf, Multi-purpose

Data:
20 Hour Rate: 232
Minutes of Discharge @ 75 Amps: 122
Minutes of Discharge @ 25 Amps: 474

Length: 10 1/4” (260mm)
Width: 7 1/8” (181mm)
Height: 11 1/4” (286mm)

This should be reflected in the price as well. You'd be far better off (and likely happier) with the 2200 and it shouldn't be significantly more in price.

As far as requiring a different charger, I have the utmost respect for JohnnieB's opinions as they have been spot on as long as I have read them, but in this case I believe he is incorrect. I've never changed a charger to go with a US Battery and they have always functioned correctly. However Johnnieb, I'd love to know what could potentially cause that if you don't mind elaborating. (like I said, I have the utmost respect of your opinions and knowledge)

Attached are some documents that are currently available on the US Battery website, Information/Media page under the technical assistance header near the bottom.
http://usbattery.com/info-center/media/

The Technical Service Bulletin eludes to the existence of charging issues with some chargers, but you have to read between the lines, while the Warranty contains a more definitive statement:

Quote:
The provisions of this limited warranty shall not apply to failure due to:
Abuse or neglect such as improper fluid levels, loose wiring, or rusted or corroded hardware; Lack of proper maintenance; damage caused by improper installation of the battery; neglect, breakage, freezing, fire, explosion, wreckage, the addition of any chemical, operation of the battery in an overcharged, or the operation of the battery in an uncharged condition (below half-charge – 1.200 specific gravity); and a battery charged by systems other than those listed on USB’s “Approved Charger List” (list available upon request).
There have been forum members that have gotten less than expected run-time and performance after installing new US Battery batteries and subsequently got more run-time and performance when they switched to a DPI Accusense (Portable) or Quick Charge (On-Board) charger that have user selectable charging profiles specifically for US Battery.

I'm not 100% sure of this, but I believe they all had the old ferroresonant transformer type chargers, all of which appear to be based on a Trojan Battery charging profile.

I cannot remember anybody who has had this issue, but maybe one or more of them will see this and comment.

I don't have a copy of the approved charger list mentioned in the warranty statement, but being a USB dealer, you ought to be able to acquire it.

I've got US Battery 1800 XC2s in my '84 resistor cart. I have an old EZGO ferroresonant charger. I've had them over 2 years and they still keep a great charge.

I've got a 4-digit voltmeter on my cart's dash, and after a full charge, they typically read about 38.50 volts (USB's 100% S-O-C). This is after driving the cart down the driveway to the house, then letting it sit for a while.

I'm probably not as careful as others, but I do keep an eye on the water levels and rarely let the voltage get below 70% S-O-C (37.2V).

I paid about $90 a pop (with the old cores) and I'm happy with 'em. They work fine for my use of the cart, mostly just hauling stuff around my 6 acres, riding over to my neighbor's pond (~3/4 mile), getting the paper in the morning, etc.

Glad that they are working out well for you.

There is nothing wrong with US Battery products and there is nothing wrong with the US-1800 series. However, not all chargers will fully charge USB batteries, but that isn't the battery's fault and a 208AH battery pack doesn't have the storage capacity needed for all applications, which again isn't the fault of the battery.

If I had a USB dealer near enough to me, my next set of batteries might very well be US 8VGC XC2. (My charger has a user selectable US Battery profile)
Where did you get your batteries, I'm almost in SE Ohio.

I bought 'em at Battery Giant in Lancaster, after talking the guy down from $110 a pop. There's a golf cart store in Heath (near Newark) that had 'em for $85 a piece. I could only get the Battery Giant guy down to $90. It was worth the $30 to NOT drive to Heath (only about 30 miles from me, but a P-I-T-A).

This was 2 years ago, so things may have changed.

From their store locator, it looks like the closest one to you is the Lancaster store. There's one in Pittsburgh and one in Cincy.

I've always thought their prices were high for everything and was a little surprised they'd dicker. If he'd only gone down to $100 a pop, I'd have made the drive to Heath.
