Cool What controller do I need?

I just bought a 05 TXT and wanted to get a controller to increase torque and a little speed. I was thinking of changing to a 48 volt system eventually so I am trying to avoid buying upgrades twice. I heard Alltrax is good but not sure which one and how much they cost. I live in a hilly area, any help is appreciated.

You can't go wrong with an Alltrax. Anything over 450 or so amps and the stock motor can't use the additional amps. If you plan on upgrading the motor in the future get the highest output controller you can afford.

Couple of thing you need to know first. Do you have a series or pds cart? If you have a series cart get an Alltrax AXE controller, if you have a PDS cart get an Alltrax DCX controller. You will not gain any speed with a series cart unless you up the voltage. If you have a PDS cart you can get a little more speed with a DCX controller.

On a series cart just upgrading the controller won't net any speed gains. You will see a torque improvement.

I put a Alltrax DCX400 on my PDS cartand gained about 6 or 7 MPH's along with 18 to 20% more torque. I also went to 4 ga. cable all the way from the batteries to the controller to the motor around the same time.

Thanks fellas, it is a series (Non PDS/DCS), I would like to upgrade eventually to 48 volts, if I get a Alltrex controller will it work with a 48 volt system?? (Will the controller help with torque??) I can live with a 36 volts for now but I would like to get a little more speed and definitely need the torque. I live around a bunch of hills. Lastly do I need to get new selinoid??? Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

I am using a axe 500 amp and have upgraded to 48 volt. I have neck popping torque and increased speed. I am very happy with the results

Tholland, Are you still running the stock motor? What is your tire size and top speed?

Tholland, do you have a TXT style cart? I am looking at a 500 axe amp and upgrading to 48 volts. What else do I need? Can I change to a axe 500 amp and run it that way then upgrade to 48 volts? What do I need to look into purchasing if I do upgrade to 48 volts? Thanks

Tim, Like Roady said , Get a 400amp AXE Alltrax 36-48v controller. With this you will increase the amount of amps your motor can draw to increase torque. Later in crease the voltage and let her fly. So to speak
You need a 48v solenoid when you up the voltage.......

To upgrade to 48v you will need
48v of batteries
a 48v charger
a 48v solenoid
48v controller
4 gauge cables to all batts and to F&R to motor etc.
