E-Z-Go PC4X Classification Help
I have an E-Z-Go PC4X 1989 model. It is resistor drive, 36V, series motor, mechanical brakes. Got the old girl free, installed some batteries and she runs.
Can anyone tell me what they classify this cart as? When you go to buy parts and stuff they group these carts into classes like "TXT" or "Marathon" but I never see PC4X. Does the PC4X fit into any other category? If not, if I am buying stuff like suspension, brakes, drive, etc. is it the same as one of the others? Two specific questions however, 1-How much wear is acceptable on the brake shoes? In other words, how thick should the lining be before I need to replace them? 2-Does the rear differential take oil and how do I check the level? Thanks for any help I can get. |

Re: E-Z-Go PC4X Classification Help
I would call that a "marathon". The brake shoes are not very thick when new, if they arent "paper thin" and are working they are fine for now. There were 3 different axles available in the "marathon" over the years, all use Gear oil. Can you post a pic of the axle?

Re: E-Z-Go PC4X Classification Help
I'm going to say a pinch over 1/8" on the shoes.
Here is the differential picture. Thanks for the info also. |

You might find the attached manuals handy while restoring on the old girl.
The parts manual is for the 1986.5 - 1987 PCX4, The service manual is for the Marathon (X-444) from that year range, but the drive system ought to be pretty close. |
