Default electrical system upgrades

alright all,

finally pulled the trigger on some electrical upgrades. (i'll bet scottyb is thrilled i don't have anymore pre-order questions.) i am starting this thread as i am sure i am going to have all kinds of questions and need all kinds of advice. here is my starting point.

2005 EZGO TXT Series Cart 36v
stock controller, motor, F&R switch, 6ga cables
23x10.5x12 tires
4" lift
HD leaf springs
Trojan T-105 batteries

upgrades coming:
500a controller, 400 amp 36-48v Super duty solenoid,
Resistor & Diode, etc.
HD F&R Switch
2ga cable set
DVM SOC meter

i will be breaking down the cart and preparing for the installation. any prep work, tips, best practices, etc. anyone can recommend before the parts arrive would be greatly appreciated. i'd like to begin installation ASAP upon receiving the upgrades.

thanks in advance.

shrp

Now's a good time to really clean the battery rack and repaint everything under the seat

Hot water & baking soda mix until you see no bubbles anywhere, then rinse with plain water, dry, paint.

Install one item at a time. Prove it works first before going on to the next item. It will take longer, but you will have fewer issues along the way. Unless you're a seasoned upgrader, then have at it all at once.

YES.... lets assume that currently your cart WORKS (is functional), thus if you connect every thing correctly, it will work when you are done.

1. Label EVERYTHING before you start taking stuff apart, or as you do it.
2. Take pictures BEFORE and AFTER (I'm talking about all the connections/wiring).
3. clean EVERYTHING.....whether if needs it or not.

and very important ........ TAKE YOUR TIME.

great ideas so far. will probably break everything down tomorrow and prep the battery area. will probably do A LOT of wire management while i'm in there working. anyone care to share a few pics of their wiring?

my 1st specific question is about installing the key switch/SOC meter plate. it looks like i'll need to cut out the entire rectangle where the existing key switch is mounted. is that the case? how exactly do you route that wiring without removing the cowl?

fridge is ALWAYS stocked.

thanks. shrp

The LED meter & series switch plate is a direct replacement of the factory switch plate. It comes with the 2 hammer rivets needed to install. You sound like the exact-fit wiper blade commercial guy
