Question Torque

I have a Lifted Ezgo, fitted with a DCX 300 controller.
At the moment the cart is quite fast at 27mph.
I now need the cart to go up a 35 degree grass tracked hill.
Is there anyway through the controller I can get more torque and less speed?

No. Torque given a fixed gear ratio is proportional to motor current. If you got your speed through larger tires, (higher gear ratio) then you sacrificed torque in doing so. You can increase maximum current to get more torque but you have to make sure that all of the components are up to the task.

small diameter tires will get your torque back and kill your top speed...

or-a certain amount of cash and a call to scottyb will solve you problem.....or maybe lets start with 72v lipo swap......

The DCX300 is a stock cart size control without the rpm limit. So the cart will free wheel to 24mph on stock tires. The additional speed you are seeing is due to larger tires or down hill readings.
35º through grass is a tall order. Use 400XCTPDS and stock motor on 42v or 500XCTPDS and D&D hi-torque motor. Depending upon what you have in the cart budget

If the correct Field Map is installed, Max Output Current is set to 100% and the Turbo option is turned off, then the answer is no.

A DCX300 will allow the motor to draw a maximum of 300A, so it is essentially a stock controller and the stock torque output from the motor is all you can get using a 300A controller.

Since your cart is lifted and does 27 MPH, your tires are more than likely taller than stock (18") height, which in turn reduces the amount of torque available where rubber meets road, so your cart has less than stock torque.

The max recommended incline for a stock EZGO cart is 14° and you want to climb 35° inclines. In other words, you want to climb an incline that is 2.5 times the recommended max incline for a stock cart with a cart the has less than stock torque.

To increase Torque, you can:
a. Reduce the tire height.
b. Use a higher amp controller.
c. Use higher torque motor.
d. Increase battery pack voltage.

To climb 35° inclines you may have to do all of the above.

What tire height are you running?
What drive system? (Is this the 1998 DCS you were asking questions about earlier?)

What happens to the electrolyte level in the batteries? Should an expected loss/leakage of some electrolyte be anticipated and/or a loss of power? Would the batteries experience damage due to exposed plates? Or anything else? Looks like lots could happen during 35 degree runs.

Don't know about all that but according to Trojan battery website for flooded batteries, 22 degrees from vertical is the maximum recommended tilt.

If possible, please post a link to the max tilt angle info on Trojan's website, or the name of the publication it is in.

I want to add the info to my stash for future reference, but took a quick look at the Trojan website and it didn't jump out at me.

Seems like there would be max latitudinal and max longitudinal tilt angles since the cells are wider than they are long and the tilt angle could be greater on the shorter axis with the same depth of electrolyte covering the plates.

30 degrees is almost an expert ski slope. Very steep. I would not even try to go up that steep a hill with my cart.
