I did an upgrade to 04 TXT PDS and now reverse goes forward and forward goes reverse. can I just reverse the field wires F-1 and F-2 to get back to normal?

Yes, reverse the F1 and F2 wires at the control or the motor and welcome to BGW

Which make/model of motor?
Which model Curtis controller?
What is the tire height?
What is the battery pack voltage?

A stock motor with stock height (18") tires and a stock battery pack (36V) will yield about 24 MPH, but if the controller limits the motor to about 4,200 RPM like a Curtis 1206MX does, the top speed is about 18 MPH.
