Default Battery problem need opinions?

I have 48v 2007 txt with 8 deka 245 amp. Batteries. Ive noticed a decrease in range. Batteries 3 yr. 10 months old. 7 read 6.43 or.44 except 1 read 5.4, the last in the string, after 15 mile run. I know this is bad, but should i just replace it or bite the bullet on 8 new ones. I'm leaning toward a good used one if i can find one. Opinions please.

You could look at one of the smaller Duracell batteries.. New may be close to the same ah as your current ones at 4 years old.

Ok going out on a limb here and suggest that you recheck all your battery voltages here.... As if 7 of your 6 volt battery are still showing 6.44 volts after a 15 mile run I'd like to buy them from you... LOL As at 100 % SOC a six volt battery should be holding 6.37 to 6.4 volts and IF all eight battery were holding 6.44 as you claim your pack voltage would be 51.52 volts which is well above full cap..... Barring all that I would not mix a new battery in with 4 year old batteries. If the budget is tight look for a used battery...

My bad, 6.34 and 6.33 measured with a digital meter. When fully charged I read 52.4 thats the dpi reading. No matter, the 5.4 is cooked, i will look for used, got a feelin, 245 amp used will be hard to find.

Those are still some very good readings at 95ish % SOC

Well my thought was that the 245 batteries would have a lower ah rating after 4 years and a Duracell 215 might be close. Just a guess.

If your batteries are 4 years old, I would go for a new set instead of replacing the first failure. The others are not far behind probably.

Run at 42V until the next battery goes belly up and start saving for a matched 48V set of new batteries.
