Default rear end oil

This may be a stupid question but I am good for that. Now that we are going into winter here in central fl. We may get temps in the 40s. The question is will the oil in the rear end get thicker, enough to cause the cart to slow down? If so what oil should be used?

just like a car/truck.....there is no need to change out the oil in the rear end for the winter.

Cart performance decreases as the temperature decreases, but it is mostly due to reduced chemical reaction rates reducing the storage capacity and amp output of the batteries, rather than oil thickening.

I'm currently using Lucas 85W-140 Gear Oil, which has about the same viscosity as the SAE-30 motor oil EZGO puts in their differentials, but is formulated for gears rather than internal combustion engines.

The next time I change my differential oil, I'm going to Lucas Synthetic 75W-90 Gear Oil, or maybe a different brand of synthetic gear oil in that viscosity range.
