Default RXV key switch ohms???

I have been trying to fix this on going problem with my 2010 rxv.

Brief update, it sometimes takes5 to 8 times of turning the key switch off then on to reverse, before reverse would actually work.

no suggestions have worked.

HERE IS MY QUESTION : IN the dianostic manual, it tells you to ohm out the key switch terminals, and they should have .1 ohms. So mine has 1.0 ohms.

I got my hands on a couple of used switches and ohmed them out and was getting 4,2 ohms, 3.3 ohms, etc.

I opened up a brand new factory unique key switch and ohmed it out, and it ohms out at a perfect .1 ohms, just like the manual says!!!

So i install the new unique switch to try, and it seems to work everytime. So i am thinking, that since my key switch, FOR SOME REASON, has a higher ohm reading, causing more resistance, it might be the cause of my problems.

So i will order a new switch. Currently, the switch that is in there is the 2nd one. So a new one will be the third!

What causes these key switches, to eventually have the ohms raise??

Is this rxv system so sensitive, that a difference of ,9 ohms will cause this problem??

Anyone ??

Yes it is that sensitive.
Main cause of switch failure is heavy key rings

RXV's from golf course rarely have bad keyswitches (one key on small ring w/cheap plastic tag)

1 Year after family buys cart, switch is bad.(3 Key rings held together with carabiner 2 plastic dolls a flashlight and garage door opener)

Huge, heavy keyrings causing you the blues? Dont feel too bad, "some" massive automobile manufacturer just recently got "raped through the coals" by the lawyers for just the same thing.....

How bizaar is that? Heavy keys will cause the key switch ohms to go up?

What exactly happens to the key switch? Because i ohm it when the switch is off the cart , in hand, and it measures 1 to 4 ohms higher than its suppose to be.

We are not saying that the keys have some powerful, un-measurable force, that affects key switches only when in the switch. We are talking about the wear-&-tear that accumulates over time from heavy keyrings. My keyring for my real car has about 20 keys total, amd my keyswitch has been replaced roughly every 10 years due to wear (i have replaced it twice now, and im ok with that replacement interval).

CG, that is good enough for me

I will use that info many times in the future, Thanks.

CG. update. I have tried installing 2 new key switches in this rxv, and still has not fixed the problem.

Still need to turn switch on and off many times, before cart will engage. When the cart won't engage, you can tell by the normal "lurch" doesn't seem as strong.

When measuring ohms down in the 1 ohm or less, most meters are very inaccurate. You need a special "LOW OHMS" meter to measure resistance that small. Your leads are more than .1 ohms! Your switch is probably fine as you found out by replacing it twice!

I have a fluke meter, it seems pretty accurate.
