driver side lean
OK, brand new to golf carts and made, what might turn out to be, a hasty purchase on a 2003 EZ GO Freedom SE. Real nice looking and running cart with a 500 amp speed controller but (and here is where the hasty comes in) there is a fairly noticeable lean to the driver side. I drove it and walked around it but didn't notice the lean until later in the day. I have crawled underneath and don't notice anything wrong with the frame so I'm guessing springs.
The lean is much more pronounced at the front and it almost seems as if the body is tilted one way. I measured the frame to ground clearance on the side, near the front, and there is only about a 1/2 inch difference from driver to passenger side. At the rear the difference is about the same but, straight on from the front, the fender clearance over the wheels is almost 1 1/2 inches different. Thoughts? |

Re: driver side lean
find a fat friend - drive him around for a few days
It seems to be a consistent issue for us all - my cart leans a bit too, not too much you can do about it unless you want to replace springs and shocks on the reg.. |

Re: driver side lean
You have a 13 yr. old cart.....I'm going to bet that the previous owner/owners only one person rode in the cart....and had his bag/clubs on that side as well. Its a common problem with older carts, if it bothers you, replacing the springs is easy....not very expensive either.

Re: driver side lean
I just started to tear into a 2000 model TXT. I noticed that it was leaning to the drivers side. I found out that the driver's side rear leaf spring is bent in wrong direction. This cart was a rental in a former life. I'm guessing a renter must have jumped the side of a bunker or something and that the cart has seen some air time.

Re: driver side lean
As has been said, it's a common issue. Think about it, if the cart moved, there was someone in the driver seat. The same cannot be said for any other position. The spring is weak. Time to replace them. Do both springs in the front first. That will probably solve your problem. Unless you have a rear seat or there is evidence of it being used for towing, the rears should be fine.
