Default Controller bluz

Ok, I pull the cart (TXT PDS) in the shop and jack up the back. Everything works.

I remove the stock controller. (36V)

Install a damaged controller. (36-48V alltrax 500 amp) it doesn't work. The funny thing is, the selinoid doesn't even kick. I didn't think the controller had anything to do with the selinoid. I thought it was only fired by a series of switches. (Reed, pedal and tow)

In fact, I thought maybe I somehow fried one of those switches hooking it up. So I removed the alltrax and put the stock one back in. The cart works. I didn't try everything, but the selinoid kicks and the wheels turned.

I figured the alltrax is no good because part of it was smashed.

I bought another used controller. (36-48V Curtis 500 amp) I installed it and it doesn't work. The selinoid doesn't kick. Even if I make the selinoid kick with a jumper, it won't turn the wheels. The reverse horn doesn't even turn on.

Now I know the used controller could be bad, but the guy I bought it from seemed to be honest.

So I'm pondering some stuff. First, what's the deal with 36-48V controllers? I hooked up both with the stock 36V selinoid and 36V pack. Is there some kind of programming that has to be changed for those controllers to work on 36V?

The Curtis controller has an additional plug. It is square like the run/tow plug. It only has two wires that are red/white going to it. One of them has pack voltage on it. Do you think I should connect the two wires?

I'm a little disappointed right now, but if the controllers have to be hooked to 48Vs, it may be that I have two good controllers. I have two more batteries I could hook in the pack. Should I try that? Do you think I need to put a 48 v selinoid in even for a momentary test? I have two, so its not a big deal. But I would think 48v would kick a 36V selinoid. (Just might get hot)

Sorry, for long post. Any help would be appreciated.

As far as the first controller goes, the controller is responsible for send the ground to the solenoid to make it engage. It was already smashed which was a good probability it was bad. I don't know what you spent on the two used controllers, but probably could have gotten a new one with warranty. Depending on the model of the second one you can program the voltage down to 36 volts. I don't know if that is your problem though.

36-48v controls will work with any voltage solenoid... you could use a 24v solenoid and it would work for a short while....until the higher system voltage fried the activation coils in the solenoid. So, the solenoid is not the problem. Sounds like a you have a couple of bad controls.
If you need a stock PDS control I have a used one from my cart in the sale section for $100 275 amps.
And we have new DCX and XCT controls on the website

Well the smashed controller came with a wrecked cart. The wheels/tires cost more than what I paid, so effectively I didn't pay anything for that controller. The second controller was only $200, but it was represented as working. Understand, I'm planning to go 48V. I was just doing a quick test. But I guess you can't do that.

Scotty, I have the stock controller and it works good. I want a 48V-500 amp controller. After confirming that the smashed one is no good, I had planned to order the XCT from you when this Curtis showed up on Craig's. You have to admit, $200 is pretty good if this Curtis would work. If neither of these work, I will be ordering the XCT from you. In fact, if only one works, I still will probably order one from you because I eventually want to convert my Marithon to 48V also. But that might be down the road. Thank you for pointing out the forsale section. I always open this forum to "EZGO electric" and never saw that section. I thought it was strange there wasn't one. Duh.

I guess right thing to do is wire the 48V selinoid up with two more batteries.

Well it looks like I'm going to get a new controller. Scotty, what's your lead time on a 500XCT? I have to go out of town for three weeks. I would like to have it waiting for me when I get home. I know you like net orders. But I didn't see a price without the selinoid. (You recall I already got that from you couple weeks ago)
