Default Inline fuse question

I am going to add a inline fuse.

I have a separate 12v battery for my lights.

Lights are on a separate on off switch (2 wires).

Does it matter which side of the switch the inline fuse is placed?

Battery positive wire going to switch or from the switch to the lights?

Thx

The closest to the power source gives you the most protection of the circuit if something were to short out.
